iam a 28 year old male i started noticing thinning in 1 specific area on my hairline almost exactly a year ago. I went to a doctor right away and he put me on propecia and suggested the use of rogaine.

Well its just about a year later. 2 weeks ago i went back to the doctor and he uped my dosage from 1mg propecia to 5mg proscar as the thinning is getting worse in this specific area. From what i can tell this is the only area on my head which is experiencing this.

ive been using the rogaine everyday twice a day with no applications missed(for a year). I also started using Ketoconazole 2% shampoo from dr lee about a month ago

So what do you guys think from my picture below does it look like typical male pattern baldness or do you think something else is going on? The doctor looked at my scalp and said nothing so i assumed it was normal thinning.

sorry for the horrible quality it was taken in a mirror with a cellphone.

i dont know what to do i feel like i exhausted my options and its only getting worse and worse with time. its making me extremely depressed

looks like some miniaturization/loss in the one spot...most likely no one would ever notice that..especially if your hair was down. any increase in shedding? perhaps since starting the shampoo?

it is in an odd spot though...not at the temple but like right next to it..definitely not something i would freak out about.

by the way, any sides from the finasteride? are you taking 5mg a day now? seems like a lot to me

5mg a day wont do any more for you even as little as 0.25mg is over 90% as effective as 1mg. But apart from that tiny area your hair looks awesome, I dont think this is m.p.b.

Yeah it's odd isn't it?

The Rogaine doesn't even help there? Is that the only spot, and does it look healthy or in any way inflamed/dandruffy etc?

Its just this area as of right now (thank god) but this is the area that has been getting worse and worse since i noticed it a year ago. the only dryness flaking going on would be from the rogaine(i believe) iam kind of scared to stop using it now tho as i cant deal with losing more hair from this area.

this was my hair without any product in it. when product is applied it looks worse as the hair is bunched together some.

the weird thing is i saw a derm whos well known for hairloss and he never stated it was anything other than male pattern baldness. he took some minor blood work and everything came back fine. But if it doesnt appear to be male pattern baldness to you guys maybe i should see someone to get more extensive blood work done?

who would i see my regular doctor?
