hey guys. damn it's been a while since i posted or even visited this site but today something happened that really pissed me off..

i had an itch on my scalp so i started to scratch it... it was at the right side of the back side of my scalp. bam 15 hairs just fell out... i was like what the hell so i scratched it again and every time i scratched my freaking scalp 2-3 hairs fell out. this got me really worried and i try not to worry about things i can't control such as male pattern baldness or hairloss/thinning etc... but damn this was serious. i think i lost around 50 hairs due to just scratching an itch on my scalp today. does anyone else suffer from this same problem? like i freakin scratch, pat, or brush my hair and immediately a noticeable amount falls out.

my hair condition has worsened from a few months ago... damn the condition of my hair gets worse and worse as time progresses. my hairs gotten thinner, and some spots are slightly bald... it's as if the hair in those spots disappeared and never came back. for instance, my hairline used to be perfect even when this whole hairloss issue started. but right now theres a small batch of hair missin on the left side of my hairline and my hair automatically parts towards the right side (EVEN WHEN IT"S FREAKIN SHAVED DOWN TO less than 1 cm) and there are various thin spots throughout my scalp where it seems as if the hair fell out and never grew back.

also when i lose hairs, some are so damn thin that they're almost transparent and the thicker ones aren't even that thick.

can anyone help me out with any suggestions and/or suggestions on medications that would remedy my situation?

thanks guys!

I have to say that that is some pretty careless advice you're giving out there.

I have to wonder if there is more than one thing going on...

If you are noticing that, overall, hair is becoming finer (smaller shaft) and diffusely thin, with problems at the hairline you probably have male pattern hair loss.... As it is driven by DHT, so trying a DHT blocker of some sort would be helpful. As the VWDUDE said, propecia is the most proven and convenient way to do this, but if youre opposed some topicals (dr. Proctor's products, spironolactone...) might help do the same (or might not). Minoxidil may help stimulate growth also, and has a fair amount of studies behind it.

The itching and patchy/spotty nature of what you are discribing is a little confusing, as male pattern baldness is not usually so focal, and itching is not usually so prominent. Without good pictures it is impossible to know what you are discribing, but you might benefit from visiting a dermatologist as some causes of patchy hairloss require specific diagnosis and treatment. Alopecia areata is patchy but usually not itchy... Seborrheic dermatitis is itchy, but usually not patchy... Autoimmune conditions might be considered. Before trying a shotgun approach like Propecia/minoxidil/ and nizoral shampoo (which might help the itching) think about seeing a dermatologist.

I agree with VWdude, although I don’t recommend Propecia, but it seems you don’t have a choice........

thanks cornholio... yeah i've always wanted to post up pics but i don't have a good quality camera... the pics come out fuzzy for some damn reason and my hair always looks thick cuz of the fuzz hah.

yeah i think i'm going to try finasteride after i turn 18 (i'm 17 at the moment)
just a question will taking finasteride affect me in any negative way because i play sports and lift weekly and i'd hate to see those things get worse because of the medication.

and dude if there was a crazy hair transplant doctor who could make my hair into any style that i wanted... i'd do it! but as for now that's just not realistic because 1. i have high hopes of me not becoming bald, hair thinned, or even dealing and worrying with this sh*t in the near future. 2. it's not logical due to the fact that i'm 17 and don't have the cash.

just curious though, does anyone know an elite hair transplant doctor who has had great results from all patients who can transplant hair into any style that you want?

thanks
