:sobbing: Im sure you've all heard this before but.. Im going freaking BALD!!
Im 33 never ever had a sign of hair loss. I had super thick hair with calics. The same lady has cut my hair for the last 10 yeas and shes in shock. The shortest way I can put this is I went from very thick hair to very thin hair in about 3 months or 4 hair cuts. I do believe I have male pattern baldness but mines more along the lines of the ludwig scale 1-3. Im noticing the hair does not grow please tell what else to expect :shakehead:

So wait like.. does it follow any pattern, or is it just totally diffuse thinning? Are there bald patches yeah, or is it just all thinner?

I am no genius yet but.. I am some knowledge in diagnosing (mostly hair-related!) things! hehe :)

No bald yet.. :( Thinning. I cant stress how abrupt this happened. Youd never know I had hair loss unless my hair is wet then its very apparent. Im in the very beginnings of male pattern balding I believe. One thing Im noticing is that the hair thats affected in the thing spots does not grow hardly at all..

So it's miniaturizing? Yeah that sounds like male pattern baldness ._.

If you ask me then male pattern baldness as guys get older is probably caused by hormonal changes leading to an increase in DHT, but then a whole ton of people disagree with me on that lol.

Do you have any pictures at all? It makes it easier to give a full diagnosis :)

miniaturizing is when the hairs go really small and thin. It sucks ._.

It's caused (in male pattern baldness) by the follicle getting covered in DHT which starts to kill it and force it to shed and become smaller :(

I am sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings,it certainly looks like male pattern baldness.Rogaine is an excellent option with minimal side effects. You could also add a DHT inhibitor like finasteride if you are not worried about the remote possibility of losing your mojo[most guys dont experience this and since you are in your 30s,this could be the right time].Add Nizoral if you have excess sebum, dandruff and itching.Make a few changes in your diet, stay healthy and add some supplements in there like Vitamins,MSM,Biotin,Zinc, curcumin, resveratrol and I am sure you wont have to worry about this for a long time.

You dont necessarily have to do all this, just take finasteride, eat a healthy diet and add some supplements in there too if you wan to.

the main consolation for me when it gets me down is just how common it is, you know? I mean, it's like flipping a coin, heads you bald, tails you don't, you know? I mean you could have gotten tails but, hey, can't always be lucky right? :)

My approach is to try to understand it as much as possible and if I can tackle it at it's very source then do it. A healthy diet helps to balance your hormones, which is good, and also lowers inflammation, which makes the follicles put up more of a fight against DHT it seems.

If you can stomach it (I can't lol, I'm a wuss xD), a blood test to determine your T, E, DHT and thyroid hormone levels could be useful, to examine any abnormalities.

Curcumin and resveratrol go quite some way to balancing T and E and tackling inflammation, which is probably why they have been patented in Italy as a hair loss treatment. Curcumin even lowers DHT a bit I think, and they probably carry other properties. Combine them with a DHT inhibitor of some kind, finasteride is the most potent but also carries the highest risk of side effects, and you'll be on a good track.

Then topicals, stuff like Nizoral and minoxidil seem the most potent but I would probably start with nizoral.

Oh, another consolation for me is I know that if all else fails, there are things like "Hair Direct" out there, and it's amazing how good the results can look with one of those hair systems and toupees and stuff, especially with long hair. I wouldn't hesitate before getting one, if I ever do lose too much of my hair for the fight being worth fighting! heh :)
