does male pattern baldness affect sides of the head as weLL!? :freaked2:

my case : dad has hair, moms hair thin but not losing, maternal and paternal grandads had hair. one unc from moms side bald. no other siblings suffering from hairloss.

me : temple recession and frontal thinning. right forehead has receded more than the left. my "M" shape forehead is REALLY weird! from the left the |\ is less but on the right the slant is longer. losing 20 - 40 hair a day most of which is 'short hair', not fully grown. :( i also sometimes get this 'burning sensation' on my scalp, nothing to see, no bumps or rashes or anything but when i touch that spot it just burns slightly. not all the time though, can anyone here relate to this? other than this, no flaking, itching only when i havent washed hair in 2 or more days and goes away after the wash.

but NOW! i'm losing hair from my sideburns as well?! i pull at the hair on my sideburns and end up with 1 or 2 EVERYTIME from both sides. i thought male pattern baldness didnt affect sides? but my sideburns will thin out if i keep doing this.

and another question..does the rest of the body hair have anything to do with it, i'm 21 and still dont have chest hair as such, but i have ALOT of hair on my legs. dont even have proper face growth, its all patchy kinda.

anybody else losing hair from sideburns? :!:

help?

If what you say is not exaggerated then you should certainly see a trichologist or a dermatologist. Your symptoms are not typical of male pattern baldness as far as I can see.

trichologist?... okk...no..nothings exagerated, the burning sensation comes very very seldom but its there. i wonder if excessive cap use has anything to do with it, as i wear a cap for upto 12 hours a day at times . i woulda thought wearing a cap that long would've had something to do with it, doesnt it block the pores if worn for so long?

i've been losing hair since 4 years now, but its just gotten visable now. and my hairline receded in a matter of 3 daYS!!..as for short hair i wonder if i have a case of Telogen Effluvium, i just got over with my exams and suffered mild depression (messed up a year of my life) .i remember posting on this website just a few days ago saying my hairline was intact (knock on wood godamnit) and now the shape has gone really weird.the right side of the m is ok, the left is longer.

what out of my symptoms does not seem like male pattern baldness? i thought the 'm' forehead and frontal thinning were definitely signs.. do you lose 'short' hair more in male pattern baldness?

Hmmm...doesn't sound normal:( I'd recommend seeing a doctor that specializes in treating the scalp and hair.

my sideburns and sides thinned out when i started losing my hair, and i did get a sensation in my scalp also which when I rubbed a little was soothed (around where i would part my hair in the vertex). Coincedentally, that is where my first signs of dramatic thinning took place. If this has been goin on for four years than it is male pattern baldness in my opinion, see a Doctor
