Help With Some Questions About Finasteride

Hi guys,

So after a good year of saying I would not use finasteride, I am getting to the point of thinking if I dont do something now - then I will get to a point where its too late.

FYI - I am a diffuse thinner and I am led to believe that finasteride works well for diffuse

As I'm sure you are all aware, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of information on the internet on finasteride, a lot of horror stories and a good few success stories. However for every success claim, there seems to be someone contradicting it - so I though I would just ask a few questions here and hope that those of you with more knowledge than myself can help with honest, non biased answers?

1. If I start finasteride, will I lose more hair than I have now, before it regrows?
1.a - If I do start to shed, and then decide to stop finasteride - will the shed hair re-grow? or will I be left worse off than when I started?

2. How much do you take and how often? do you start with a low dose and then increase? *can you take too much?

3. Can you "just stop" finasteride? or do you have to ease off it? reducing dosages etc if you were to experience side effects for example

4. If I were to stop, I understand that any gains made from the drug would be lost, but will this have any effect on other hairs and cause them to drop out too?

5. What is a "standard" time range before you see good results? or is there risk of just getting progressively worse at an accelerated rate?

I think that is all I can think of at the moment, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

1. I had minor shed where I had maybe 40 hairs in a drain and that was it. They will grow back and you won't turn into a baldhead.
1.a it will but probably weaker and thinner, you will be as if you hadn't taken finasteride at all
2. 1.25mg since age 19, cut proscar pill in 4ths. You can try with low dose as I did of 0.5 or 0.25 every day or every other day, but results are similar. Overdosing is hard since above 1mg the effectiveness is pretty much flat. Just don't eat the whole box. More isn't better.

3. People have stopped abruptly and had no problems. Others reported them but nobody knows why. Chances are you will be fine, but if you want for precaution just lower the dosages and intervals and then drop it.

4. Your thick horseshoe will be like you never touched finasteride. But your hair will shed like rain.

5. 6-18 months, no risk of it getting worse. Some rare cases but they often had accompanying problems with hormones
