I am 20 and have used propecia for 2 yrs now and have seen some regrowth on my hairline with minimal progression or thinning or hairloss. I have recently (a bit over a month) started taking a product whose main ingredient is saw palmetto along with some other herbs. I take 2 of those pills at night and 1 in the morning. The product name begins with a P and I will refer to it as "P" for the rest of the post.

I have recently noticed over the past week, that I think my hair is thinning again all over my crown (top of head) and some on the back of my head. I believe I am losing because it looks thinner especially the front-middle part of my head, it just feels thinner all over, and I think I see my scalp more, specifically on my crown and front. The strange thing is that I don't notice any rapid loss of hair. I just tugged in various spots across my head in clumps and returned about 10 hairs with the root. In addition, I have noticed over the past few days that my scalp is itchy and flaky with some redness where my top hair line meets above the temples ( the corners).
My questions are...
1. Is this normal?
2. Is the "P" causing this or could "P"or other treatments cause hair loss?
3. Could the "P" be causing a shed?
4. What else could I take to combat my hairloss like an anti-inflammatory, or an SOD inhibitor (is that what it's called)?
5. Could the combination of propecia, "P", and nioxin couteract each other? Or could the combination of other medicines with them like Minocyline(acne pill) or benadryl cause a counteraction?
6. DO I STOP USING "P" OR KEEP GOING THROUGH THE POSSIBLE SHED?

I WOULD VERY VERY MUCH APPRECIATE ANY INCITE INTO THIS. :!:

don't know why the ********* are there. I am referring to a product that begins with a "P" and ends with a "n". It's main ingredient is saw palmetto. I hope you can guess what that spells.

Well, I have no experience with that product...but I can tell you there are probably hundreds of non-prescription, so-called "natural" alleged treatments out there. I'm not aware of any that have proven practical effectiveness in fighting or overcoming male pattern baldness. That alone is my personal rationale behind passing on them. Your mileage may vary.

Nioxin is a deep cleanining shampoo that is vsry strong.I used it at the first note of hair loss and it started to progress real fast at around 2 months use,but it might of just been the normal progression of my male pattern baldness. It also severly dried my scalp and caused mad irratation. There one application in the package its like an alchohol spray you apply it before the follicule booster, stay clear of that sh*t,If you continue use I recommend to use it only 2 a weak (thats what the Doctor told me).(except follicule booster)

Should I use another hair shampoo treatment instead? The irritation(redness, flaking) as I read in one of the sections in the "hair loss in men" section on the hairlosstalk homepage, said that the irritation/inflammation could cause more hair loss. I just don't know which or both of the "P" and Nioxin treatments is affecting me.

What would yall recommend I take with propecia as a treatment if not "P"?

I just don't think that the Nioxin could be causing the potential loss of hair. I will however use it less cause i use it like everyday. Do I stop taking the "P" and get on something else quickly? I just don't want anymore progression

Alstud the use of Saw Palmetto in helping hair loss is unproven and the debate still burns over its use. But I can tell you Pr0cerin is a scam. If you want to use Saw Palmetto then go and buy some from you local health shop for ten times cheaper what Pr0cerin costs.

P = Pr0cerin .. we're not really supposed to mention that product around HairLossTalk.com website (due to legal aspects perhaps, and also our complete lack of respect for the people behind these snake oil products).

:)

Hence the code.

hmm, i think I'm gonna stop using it and get a refund. I definately see and feel an all over diffuse especially on my crown +front but no recession. I was curious however what I should take then along with propecia. I hear everyone talking about the "Big 3". As I understand that's propecia, mino, and noxel or noxin? I've also had Rogaine sitting in my bathroom for a year now (5%) and I've been afraid to use it because it says that you can lose the hair initially and that it doesn't work forever. My dermatologist put me on propecia and mino but i've been using only pro. IF I STOP THE "P" TREATMENT WILL I STILL LOSE MY HAIR, ANY AMOUNT OF TIME TILL IT STOPS?

I doubt very much that stopping Proc3rin will cause increased hair loss.
The Big 3 is Finasteride (Propecia), minoxidil 5% and Nizoral shampoo, not Noxin. The 2% Nizoral is best.
