Hi everyone, glad I found this site out of all the bs on the net.

Im 23 and have started noticing thining towards the back right and left of my head. I dont know how to tell what my problem is... I really started to notice after I tried straighting my hair, which I think might have fried my scalp or something. I use to bleach my hair all the time and applied it straight to the scalp along with straighting it. How can I tell if it's just my scalp that is messed or if I need some DHT blocker.

If its just the scalp, what would be best for recovering it and stopping the thinning/hairloss... Oh yeah im shedding more then usual too lately :!:

Thanks

It could be a combination of many things fried. I remember relaxing my hair 4 years ago before I noticed I was losing hair, and there was a shedding that accompanied the process as a normal side effect. The hair quickly grew back and I enjoyed my new silky head of hair for about 8 months before I came to the horrific conclusion that I had fallen victim to male pattern baldness.

My suggestion to you is to stop all those straitening/bleaching treatments, and lay low for about a couple months to see what happens. If the thinning persists, then take the initiative to look into a hairloss treatment such as minoxidil or finasteride.

Thanks, I stopped bleaching my hair about a year ago, the last time I straightned it was about 4 months ago. Since straightning it my hair texture is completely different then before.. Before I had thick frowy hair, now it appears normal and thinner, but all the hair I applied that to is long gone and its growing that way now. I wear my hair short (about 3/4 inch) and its growing back different now then before straighting, I'm not sure if that is common or not. Not sure what male pattern baldness is, i'll look it up now.

Thanks

So, thinking that this is being cause by my scalp condition would you guys recommend Folligen? I forgot to mention the itching and sore on the scalp. I think I just need something to help revitalize the scalp, if that doesn't work it'll be time for step 2, but I don't want to wait too long to take action.

Over-the-counter Nizoral 1% is usually very good for any symptoms that cause itching, but if what you are trying to do is rid yourself of remaining symptoms related to the bleaching/relaxing, your best bet is to use a mild shampoo such as baby shampoo, and ride it out. However, if the itching is male pattern baldness-related, you may want to look into the folligen/t-gel/nizoral shampoo options...
