... can increased Muscle mass or v**** cause or encourage male pattern baldness? I know that increased muscle mass ups the metabolic rate and increases overall testosterone in the body, so would a leaner guy be more prone to male pattern baldness?

And what about v**** (etc) ? ... Some of the sides of propecia include decreased libido/functtion (as most on here are aware of), but would v**** be a counter-intuitive drug to combat this? This may be a leap, but if you take V and increase libido and sexual activity, wouldnt you be making your body produce more testoserone (and, Im assuming, more DHT) which would just add to the hairloss problem ... im just trying to look a step ahead in case i have any sides

Thanks

V

v**** wont increase libido as such mate...it will just give you a boner WHEN you feel horny.
Doesnt do anything to increase Test as far as I know. It works by distending blood vessels, which is why people with low blood pressure should watch it, cos can lead to alramingly low BP in those people and poss stroke or heart attack (rare).
Wont affect hair tho as far as I know.
ps...it may possibly even help hair loss cos it increases circulation to scalp/everywhere.

Dont want to go on about this but HAIRLOSS IS NOT DUE TO POOR BLOOD CIRCULATION. (this is just an ancient theory before we knew about DHT ect). Its the blood supply that delivers DHT to the follicles so poor circulation would be a bonus if anything. Are you telling me that I had poor blood circulation at 19? And do those rare 60 yr old nw1's just have super circulation then?
When a bald man cuts his head does it not bleed just as much as a nw1?
Its all about genetics.

jesus christ...! It was only a comment. Too many people on here need to chill !
Main comment was about v****/test link - I dont think there is one.
Who really knows about circulation, maybe it plays a part , maybe not.

Sorry its just that there are so many silly theories that you hear again and again... Hairloss linked to excercise,masterbating,smoking...etc,etc...

what about diet? any link there?

i hear that the incidence of hairloss in Japan has risen exponetially since WWII - the assumption is a "westernized" lifestyle/diet is the culprit - fact or fiction?

Its from the massive increase in masturbation, due to the proliferation of bukkake flicks. :hairy:

I think it's definately one of many culprits.

For example, a low GI diet has been recently proven in Australia to significantly reduce acne due to it's effect on the hormonesand insulin resistance. Both naturally play roles in male pattern baldness also, so go figure.

Yeah but you dont really inherit acne in the same way as you are born with the follicles that either are or are not receptive to DHT.

saf,

why dont our follicles start to fall out @ a much earlier age if its in our genetic code? say, at puberty, or shortly thereafter? why the delay?

Good question I've always wondered why most people follow some sort of balding pattern eg the temples receed then the crown thins and the bridge area is usauly the last to go. To be honest I dont know the answer but you can be sure that its all geneticly determind from birth.
M.P.B can begin anytime after puberty genetics dictate when it will 'kick in' and the geneticly receptive follicles will be effected. This includes exactly which hairs will be effected and what the balding pattern will be.
I'm not a Dr but I do have been through the process myself and it takes a while to realise that this is a natural process its in your DNA, and as a health fanatic I know that these guys with their herbs and supplements are just throwing their money away. Look around you and you will see people who live on a diet of burgers and fries with great hair. Or people in the third world suffering malnutrition or junkies that are half dead on the streets many have no problems with their hair they were just born to have hair that lasts.
