I got this idea from another website. I picked this microscope http://www.amazon.com/Celestron-Deluxe- ... B004QF0A1Y from a local store today for about $50.

Heres my first attempt. The shots aren't all at the exact same magnification (only figured out how to keep the same magnification after the fact).

The points correspond to the ones on the diagram below.

The derm said you have male pattern baldness right so that should answer your question about finasteride if you want 2 fight back, you could potentially turn some of those miniturized hairs back to normal as there still alive.
Or you could always start with minoxidil, that stuff can thicken up those tiny hairs aswell.
you head looks red/rash like to me in places could be wrong im new to hair loss myself, does it itch? get some nizoral/keto for now if nothin else.

Was just a GP but yea. I think taking finasteride is inevitable. I'm just worried that right now might not be the best time to start as I am starting my first "real" job. If I were to have sides I think it would cause me a lot of extra anxiety.

So I guess finasteride now or finasteride in two months time? I suppose there is never really a good time so I might just do it.

Haven't noticed any itch.

Well it's your decision pal there are other regimens to finasteride you know, but i'll tell you I have no sides off finasteride except the most common initial ball ache 2 weeks in, which has gone now.
Just taking it and knowing Im doin something actually has relieved tonnes of my stress and anxiety over my hairloss.
Its changed my situation from checking for hairs falling out, to checking for hairs growing back a good thing!

If your not sure just think about it for a while, im sure thats what most people do anyway.

pete...how is finasteride working out for you hair wise? Are you not bothered by the fact that your male hormones are reduced - that is the thing that puts me off more than anything - i don't wanna alter my actual physical health in any way.

I was worried at first, but im not now i havent changed abit in anyway. nor do i feel different in my self.

now my hair, I certainly have not lost anymore since october and im seeing regrowth from minoxidil. hopefully the propecia will hold it off while min grows then more. need more time, but my trust is fully in the propecia now.
