Help! Is head and shoulders (pyrithione Zinc) bad for hair?

I started using this shampoo because i thought i read of a study where men who used it for a period of time had increased hair counts.

Now when i google pyrithione zinc all i get is a study about it vs. a ketacanazole shampoo (nizoral). It says the ketacanazole shampoo incrased hair density by like 16 percent or 8 percent (something of that nature but is no suprise becuase its somewhat anti androgenic).

But than it said the pyrithione zinc shampoo decreased the hair density by about 2 percent.

Is this right????Did anyone ever see that study where it seemed to look good?

Gosh, thats a no no for use if it is true it takes density away.

i don't think the study directly puts the blame on pyri zinc for the decrease. maybe it would have happened anyway?

Don't you mean that it decreased hair shaft diameter? That's what I thought it was, and on the flipside it increased the anagen/telogen ratio (more hairs in anagen phase)

I used Head & Shoulders almost exclusively for about 15 years without any hairloss.

I believe you are correct. So i guess its like a tradeoff then. But i wonder how it could possibly cause the diameter to lessen? Strips the keratin away or something? hmmm

Imagine if you had super super thick hair. Each hair proceded to loose two percent of its diameter. it may not sound like a lot but multiplied by many hairs it could make a difference. Your hair might now appear thinner.

Either way, i didnt ask for an oppinion as to if this amount was "significant".

I also didnt ask for mockary.

I asked for clarification of the study.

Thanks again a**h** :)

Since two percent is no big deal lets allow your hairline to recede back two percent. Are you cool with that?

How about you loose two percent of the hairs on your scalp?
