Help in analyzing biopsy results?

I recently visited a dermatologist for my hair loss problems. I have been shedding a lot of hair around 150-200 per day, during a period of 3 years, however, I do have a lot of hair so its not really visible.

I have noticed thinning all over since my shedding started, and unfortunately more and more on the hairline the last 6 months.

The dermatologist suspected Telogen Effluvium, since I said that there is not much hair loss in my genes. At first she did a "hairpull" test and stated that it was more hairs than usual that fall of. So she decided to do a scalp biopsy to look more deeply into the problem.

The results I got back is that it is chronic Telogen Effluvium, and that there is nothing I can do about it...

I am though a bit skeptical and would like to have some help in analyzing the results, this is what it said:

"Minor degree of upper dermal scarring present. At the isthmus approx. 32 follicles are counted of which 2 are vellus and 1 is telogen.
At the infundibulum , 2 to 3 miniaturized hairs are seen.
The degree of miniaturization is not enough to make a diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia."

Any thoughts, if it isn't Telogen Effluvium I do want to treat it...

Why are you skeptical? You say you've been shedding 150-200 hairs day for 3 years, which to me sounds like chronic Telogen Effluvium. And your dermatologist has then diagnosed you with chronic Telogen Effluvium. Do you have some reason to believe this is not the case?

In the results it says that from the 32 follicles only 1 was telogen, which I thought was strange.
And also since I started to loose more on the hairline recently, I am worried that it might be mbp anyway.

Easier to just post a picture of your hair.

If you have been losing 150-200 hairs per day for 3 years and there are no noticable signs of male pattern baldness then you shouldn't worry.
