Help! Huge allergic reaction to PPG in Kirkland Minoxidil

Hi,
I had been using Rogaine Foam and Finasteride (generic propertia) to treat hair loss with no significant hair growth, but no hair loss either (which is better than nothing). However, I switched from the foam to Kirland Brand Minoxidil from Costco because it was cheaper.

After using for about two weeks, I noticed huge red spots (similar to a rash) began to form on my forehead. Because some of the Minoxidil solution in the Kirkland solution usually ended up on my forehead, I connected the emerging rash to the solution.

Online, many people have had a similar problem and a reaction to a chemical found in the Kirland solution but not in the Rogaine foam: PG or PPG (Propylene Glycol). I am 99 percent sure this is responsible and have stopped using the Kirkland solution.

However, the spots are very prominent all over my forehead. They itch and I do not know how to treat them or when they will go away. Has anyone had any experience with this allergic reaction and have any advice about its treatment or how long it will take to disappear?

The treatment for that is the stop using the minoxidil. It clearly states on the label if you have any type of irritation or reaction to cease the using the product.

There are a lot of products /minoxidil solutions/ out there that contain no /or very low/ PPG.

As I stated in my post, I have already stopped using the product. Read my post again if it isn't clear.

I was asking for advice about how to treat the red, rash-like reaction I have from the use of the PPG. If anyone has info about that, that would be helpful.

The skin does not like alcohol. It dries out the skin and makes it dry and irritated. The skin begins to fully producing sebum / DHT. Then it can cause an infection. In some falls can cause small pimples. Some can tolerate more than others.

Avoid too much irritation.

Try 1% Ketoconazole shampoo in a few days, it will reduce redness and irritation. Then try a product that fits better to you.
