I have been suffering hair loss for years now. I'm quite certain it's hereditary but have not been diagnosed.
After losing hair continuously I went to my family Doctor in 2011. She did basic blood work on thyroid and iron and it was fine. She of course
told me all about the hair cycle. I tried to say it wasn't that....oh well. So now 2015 I went back and told her. She again told me about the hair cycle. My hair falls continuously all day long. I take a lint roller with me everywhere I go and I am constantly pulling hair off of myself and finding it everywhere.
Nobody can touch me without getting hair on them. So she did the blood test again....fine. Referred me to a dermatologist who was supposed to see me
in 2 weeks. Well it's been 3 weeks and still no appointment.
I have tried Viviscal...nope! just gave me huge zits.
I have been on multivitamins, tried iron but not for long I have tried vitamin d supplements...b complex....have started evening primrose oil about a week or
so ago and trying Macafem....started a week ago.....
I don't know what I am doing. I'm scared.
Any advice......

Haven't put my hair up in year so nothing tight. I use sulfate free shampoos.....try to use Nizoral a couple of times a week. I have also tried T-gel...I don't know!

Hi,

I am sorry to hear of your frustration when the problem is so psychologically urgent. I've gone through the same long waits for specialist appointments, and it certainly had me pulling my hair out (oh my goodness, WORST pun ever!).

Genetic hair loss is certainly devastating. I spoke to my friend who started going bald in his 20's, and I definitely have more perspective now on how badly hair loss affects people. It is something rarely talked about.

Sorry I can't be of more help. My hair loss is due to stress and poor diet, but seeing as female hair loss runs in my family, I expect to see my hair progressively thinning as I get older.

Keep healthy, try to stay positive. Hope you get your appointment soon.

Find a new doctor asap. Someone who can understand your problem. Catch it before it's too late.

Mimi333, is there a chance that we could talk about your experiences related to hair loss? I am an undergraduate student based in London, trying to increase the awareness of the wider public regarding this massive burden women have to carry. I guarantee anonymity and it will not take long. We could arrange a skype session? Cannot wait for your response. Could you please email me your skype details or email to researchhairlosswomen@gmail.com. Looking forward to our discussion! :)

You could try some basic stuff such as a sulphate free shampoo - You mentioned you already take one but I would recommend Pura D'or - head massage to help blood circulation and maybe take some vitamins supplement? I am talking about it a little on one of my blog post here. If this doesn't work, try Monix 5%
