Hi everyone,
Bg info: Aged 20y.o, caucasian, father lost all his hair over the course of 4 years when he was 21y.o (thanks for the genetics dad), same for paternal grandfather

So 6 months ago, when I was aged 19 y.o, my slowly receding nw2 hair started to shed dramatically and getting thinner and thinner in hair diameter. I took quick decisions and started finasteride and minoxydil.

After 5 months on minoxydil and 4 months on finasteride, nothing has changed: my hairline has receded (miniaturized hair) and more than anything, the shedding WON'T STOP!
The hairs I shed are thicker at the end and get gradually thinner and thinner towards the root. I also shed some very thin hairs that don't change in diameter.
Very very rarely, I see some hairs thick at the end, then thin in the middle, and a bit thick at the root (?!) But again that's very rare.

Thanks to the minoxydil, some vellus hair reappeared on the temple and my vertex looks fuller.
But the finasteride feels like candy: no side effects at all, no improvement.
Globally, in just 6 months I have lost a tremendous amount of volume, and every time i run my hand through my hair or wash my hair tons and tons of hairs fall. It's so depressing to lose hair so young honestly.

So I'm asking for your knowledge on this forum: what should I do ?
Start dutasteride? If yes, when and how ?

I know 4 months isn't a lot to see the results on finasteride but I don't know if I have the time to wait a year and a half before my hair looks really awful. I have ZERO result, it's so depressing.
Thank you in advance for your help !! I really need help, be it just emotional support. This whole thing destroyed me from the inside

Yeah, I'd probably opt for dutasteride, if you get sides, you can always go back to finasteride.

I wish you the best of luck, but it sounds as if the Norwood reaper just has your number.

Yea, I don't have much hope honestly but I guess it's worth trying, nothing to lose at this point.
If it turns really bad I'll shave everything. It just feels so unfair to lose everything so quick and be out of control.
