For the days I use Nizoral, my hair is noticably thinner looking. Specifically, I have a part that shows down the middle that is not normally visible or even there. It starts at the crown, and goes forward about halfway to the hairline. What is that? It doesn't look like anything I have seen on Norwood or pictures. Could this be some kind of alternative alopecia? When I use my regular shampoo all that I can see is a small white spot at the crown that was always there (but might be slightly larger from male pattern baldness).

Ketoconazole has intense drying effects on the hair, this makes it look thinner and unhealthy. To combat this apply a high-end conditioner such as Tea-tree oil conditioner.
That is the reason for the change in appearence after showering. As for the hair loss pattern, male pattern baldness generally goes by the Norwood scale, but everyone's varies. There are diffuse thinners, men who tend to loose more hair on the side of their heads and people who only loose at the crown. You could be suffering Female Pattern Baldness too, it's all genetics. To be sure I'd need to see more pictures. Still, I wouldn't be certain I'm no Trichologist.
If you really feel it's not male pattern baldness (99% of the time it is) go to the Doctor and ask him to take blood tests. Good luck!
