Help! 24 Year Old Severe Thinning; What Are My Options?

Hi, just looking for some help & advice on what you guys think about my options.

Hair started going about 3 years ago, thought nothing of it at the time and it seemed quite mild so I thought it was just normal "maturing" of the hairline, however over the past year the thinning has sped up quite significantly.

Family history wise, grandfather was about a VI on the norwood scale, father is more of a Va, so it's probably androgenetic (no hair loss on my 29 year old brother however), the pattern is a bit different though as with them it was quite thick but receded back whereas with me it seems to be diffusing? Not sure.

Also unlike them I have a severe weight issue (40+ BMI) and possible t2 diabetes so that may play a factor also.

I've probably left it too long to regrow anything significant but if I could get even a little regrowth I would be happy; any comments/advice would be appreciated. Cheers!

Everyone is probably just going to recommend you to try the big 3. Im not using finasteride or dutasteride myself and dont want to risk it but realistically thats the only proven options you have (although my current routine without using them seems to be working)
Its strange how genetics work. My dad is about 66 and he has very thin hair and balding, but yet his only sibling (brother) has a complete thick head of hair with no sign of receeding or thinning, and he is a very heavy smoker (which supposibly speeds up hairloss if your prone to it) and my dad isnt a smoker (although he is quite overweight).
Don't lose hope though, some people respond really well on the big 3 and regain alot of what they've lost. All you can do it try it and hope that you're a good responder.
You could always try tidying up your diet and losing some weight and eat good non processed foods and see if it helps slow it down, but thats not really proven to help either. Then again everyone is different. Good luck with it though, theres alot of good information on here.
Oh, and one other thing on a side note. Some people have been able reverse their diabetes by going on a plant based diet and completely eliminate their need for insulin. If you want more information on that go to youtube and search for the video 'how not to die' it contains really good information on that topic.

How not to die is a fantastic book. I totally second his recommendation. Dr Michael Gregor is an incredible orator, if you're interested there's a good audible version as well. Good luck, man.
