looks to me like you have pretty thin hair, which might make you think you are balding. or maybe you are balding, you'll never know for sure until it gets worse, or stays the same.

I agree, you are going bald.

You have lots of options though, to save your hair. A young man like yourself probably should not use a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor like finasteride or dutasteride though, in my humble opinion.

Look into superoxide dismutase, grape seed extract, apple polyphenols, curcumin, green tea extract, and ketoconazole shampoo for starters.

You're fine. Give it 4-6 months and take pics again. Make sure you save those so we can compare.

c'mon guys, you can't say that he's, without a doubt, going bald. Yes his hair is pretty thin, but I wouldn't be so quick to label it as thinning.

Don't worry Martinnn. A friend of mine had much thinner hair than yours at 16. A few ppl even teased him a bit saying that he'll go bald some day. But fast forward 10 years later and he still has the exact some hair he did at 16. Some ppl just naturally have thin hair.

But unfortunately, I can't say for sure that you're not balding. Only way to tell is to take pics every 6 months or so and see if things get progressively worse.

I really really doubt it.(Provided your crown has always been like that) What's your family history like? Is baldness prevalent? If not, i highly doubt you could be suffering from male pattern baldness at 15 [Especially starting in the crown, seeing as how your temples would more than likely be the first to suffer. male pattern baldness is extremely aggressive in my family, practically all members went through at at some point or another (Except my asswipe brother, who's 25 and has no signs whatsoever) and i started loosing at 16 ish.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I was afraid someone was going to say I was in fact balding...

But I'm also left as clueless as I was before because there's people that strongly agree I'm balding and there are those who strongly disagree.

I'm not sure my hair has always been like this....it's possible.

It never was extra thick. My mom told me when I was little I had like 5 cowlicks...

My dad is 36 and is balding, but he's more than 20 years older than me. My mom's side of the family doesn't bald a lot...

And also, I made sure I took pictures that would show my 'bald spot' well.
Because sometimes when I take a pic, I don't see the spot that much, but I always figure its just because of bad lighting.

:( I'm so depressed ....

Another thing: I just recently got off an anxiety medication called klonopin (horrible side effects) and I remember reading something like it caused hairloss for some people, but I kinda doubt my medication was the cause.(If indeed, I am balding)

I'm 15 though.... it just seems weird.... my parents eventually end up screaming at me telling me I'm not balding, but if some of you guys see it...maybe its not just me. I'm going to give it 5 months and take another picture, and see if there's a difference.

And hopefully something positive will come out of all this. I like my hair :(
All those big words some of you are saying...scare me.

I was never that much of a vain person, but balding at 15 makes me really self-conscience and unconfident.

Keep me in your hopes and prayers guys....it may be only hair....but its also my self-esteem at stake.
Thanks

I think this place is getting a little out of control sometimes but at the same time there is a duty to be honest with you and not bullshit you so that you at least know if something is happening and the options available. I understand the OCD thing. I have more than a touch myself as does I suspect 90% of this board. Hence you have people with very little lss willing to do some pretty insane things for their hair.
So are you going bald? I dont think so. To be honest its hard to tell because there is some scalp showing but hell most girls have similar hair. And even though its the crown its also the place where your hair is "parting" and so to see scalp there is very normal.
At the risk of feeding your obsession its not actually important if you can see scalp but is more important is whether you can see more scalp in say 6 months or so. I know you wont be able to just relax and forget about it but if you must know I would suggest that you take some photos under as controlled conditions as possible (same lighting, same exposure, ISO settings what have you on camera) and repeat in 6 months. If there is visible there is some evidence. Otherwise go to a derm who will prob give you some peace of mind. Theres no way a 15 year old should be prescribed finasteride or dutasteride IMO. Thats way to young.
To recap I would say no. You can see some scalp but this is pretty meaningless. I always had very fine hair even as a child like my mum does. Didnt mean I was a bald kid. Dont worry and if hairloss is in your future you can do something about it at a plenty young age like 18 and will prob get very good results and nobody would ever notice anything. Unless of course you keep asking them ; )

kid, cheer up....you're not going to go bald (if you make sure you do something about it if and when the proof is in the pudding), and nobody except us nutters would see that as a bald spot. but you asked for our opinion, and a couple of us think we see something. it's not bad at all. i wouldn't be surprised if a couple posters here would kill for hair like that. i hope they wouldn't, of course...

Anyhow, you are going to feel better about yourself, in my opinion, if you are doing something for your hair instead of waiting to see if you are going bald.

So why don't you grab some Nizoral A-D shampoo and use it a few times a week. The ketoconazole in the shampoo will act as an anti-androgen, meaning it will inhibit DHT from binding to your hair follicles. DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is the main hair killer. Leave the shampoo on your head for 5 minutes so the ketoconazole can penetrate your scalp. I've read it will stay in your scalp for days so daily use is unnecessary and will most likely dry your hair out until you discontinue or reduce its use.

The drugs I mentioned in my previous post (finasteride a.k.a. Propecia) (dutasteride a.k.a. Avodart "I didn't have a going problem, I had a *growing* problem") are 5 alpha reductase inhibitors. The enzyme 5α-reductase reduces testosteron to DHT. These drugs decrease the levels of available 5α-reductase prior to testosterone binding with the enzyme, thus reducing levels of dihydrotestosterone that derives from such a bond. But, in my humble opinion, you are too young for these drugs, and recommend you wait until you are done puberty.

TO ALL THE FREAKIN NEGATIVE POSTERS AIMED AT ME: YEAH, JUST GO AHEAD AND PRETEND YOU DO NOT SEE THAT PATCH OF FLESH COLOR SCALP ON PHOTO 1. WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT MY OWN OPINION OF HIS HAIR CONDITION IS?

Behind every male pattern baldness story is people telling the baling person that they are crazy for thinking they are going bald. *looks at JayB*

JayB you sad bald idiot, put your freakin glasses on, clean off your monitor, and take notice of his bald patch of scalp on his first photo.[/b]

Well, can't really sleep with this stupid balding thing on my mind....
But I just wanted to say thanks to everyone, seriously....
I kind of agree with all of you in a way. I had a feeling I was balding.... notTERRIBLY but any kind of balding at such a young age is bad....I started having suspicions in the last year or so....

But anyways, everyone has confirmed everything for me, I believe that I am balding, its at a very early stage, its not horrible, and I need to do something about it now while I can.
I feel a lot better actually having some reassurance. This life is so short....I don't wana waste it worrying about some stupid hair missing on my scalp.

Oh and question..... I was doing a search for that shampoo Nizoral A-D, and I was wondering if this is the right stuff : http://www.walgreens.com/store/product. ... d=prod9407
??

Thanks again!!! I'm actually feeling a bit optimistic here, which is weird to say because I'm usually very negative. Thanks everyone for being honest with me. I'm so happy I had the courage to look for some help with this problem and get some second opinions.
I feel a lot better now....
Yesss!!!!! :)

The guy is a heartless little prick. WoW, have a think about how what you write affects others. If you think making others feel bad is going to make you feel better then goodluck to you...but it won't. Stop being a c*nt and make some positive contributions or f*** off.

I agree, his hair is thin, but is he balding? I don´t know...... Take pictures as suggested and repost them so we can base our opinions on a comparsion. For now I suggest you to chill and get your OCD under control. Always keep in mind: Even if you are balding there are still plenty of possibilities to solve this problem. Good Luck, mate!
