Hey guys,

Iv been searching google looking for reviews on Nourkin Man and i found this place... i wish id found it ages ago!! Looks like there are loadsa people here who can share "real" experiences... anyway...

Over the past two to three years iv had problems with my hair thinning and its got to the point where my friends are commenting on it now and its really nocking my confidence. Im only 24 and im paranoid about my hair so much now that every time i walk past a mirror i check to see how much of my scalp is visable!

Iv always had dry hair, and its curly and frizzy which is annoying but i like to have my hair quite long. The problems started with an itcy scalp - i had spots/pimples on my skalp that really itched... they were mainly at my back of the top of my scalp... then this area seemed to get thinner. I was worried about it at the time but put it down to stress (my gf was in her final year at uni and it was quite stressfull for both of us) but it seemed to get worse and now my hair is thinning all over the top. Again i put this down to stress because last year i was in the final year of uni too. I found i was scratching my head a lot (maybe because i was conceous about the balding didnt help) and read that this can cause tempory hair loss? (I have noticed that the balder patches are located where iv had itchy spots, but that may just be coincidence as sometimes i get spots at the back of the head and i dont seem to be blading there.)

I havent been scratching my scalp as much since i left uni but there has been no signs of improvement at all :(
Iv been using Foltene shampoo for the last month or so and have just finnished the 1st bottle... this also dont seem to be doing anything so i was considering trying Nourkin? A few of my mates have said i should shave my hair, but i really dont want to because i hate my sticky out ears and would be just as conceous about those as i am about my balding :(

Anyway, here are 3 pics... 1 to show how my hair was in May 04... probrally just before I noticed any balding and had any itching (its not the best pic but its all i have, sorry) and the other two were taken today. These pics make the bald areas appear worse than they are, maybe because of the flash on the camera... but when my hair is wet i can see loads of scalp :(

Sorry for the long post guys, and sorry if iv posted it in the wrong section of the forum...

Hopefully someone can suggest something to help as its really getting to me now...

Thanks,
Mabbo

Maybe the flash is making things look worse but you do seem to be thinning on top. However this does not look like your ordinary male pattern balding to me. There does'nt seen to be any recession of your temples/hairline and the crown is not too bad.

its a strange thinning pattern but it seems to have started at your crown, if youre scalp really is that irritated you should see a dermatologist.there are many more experienced people on here than me but i couldnt say for certain if its male pattern baldness or not.your hairline is still spot on.you may be a good mnox responder as your thinning is near the back.i wouldnt go for nourkin man - you could get three or more proven treatments for the same price per month, more importantly lee sharpe uses it.

Your pattern of thinning is the same as mine; I also have curly/wavy hair. It's called diffuse thinning, different from the typical male pattern balding areas of hair loss. You'll lose all across the top, but your hairline won't really recede; though it, too, will thin.

It's not that weird. It's almost the exact pattern I'm diffusing in, right down the middle to the crown. I have curly/wavy hair same as Doug and same as you.

You need to see a dermatologist.

Doug, it's important to add to your post that he'll lost the rest IF he doesn't get on medication or do something about it. If he gets on finasteride or dutasteride he can stop the balding most likely.

hey guys,

thanks for the replys... from the pics iv seen on the net my hairloss dont look like male pattern baldness but who knows.

something else i should mention is that it SEEMS to be a little better now and again, either that or i notice it more at different times?
also... the spots and itchy scalp seem to be in the same areas as the thinning so maybe its related? i dont know... i guess thats why you say to see a dermatoligist... i was scratching the crown of my head most when this was thinning because my scalp was itcy here with the occasional spot... then i got an itchy spot towards the front of my head on my left (right side looking at me face on) which now seems to be thinner than the rest...

sean68 - when you say i "may be a good mnox responder" - do you mean Rogaine (Minoxidil)?

i have another question about the things listed here: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/research/me ... nt1men.htm
if i start taking these growth stimulants and i get some hair back, should i stop taking that type of tablet and then use a DHT Inhibitor like Propecia? and if i stop taking them all together... my hair will just fall back out?

sorry for the dumb questions...

thanks again,
neil

mabbo,

hair grown back from minoxidil means you need to use minoxidil forever to keep it. propecia will not maintain it for you.

yes minoxidil = regaine/rogaine. if you stop using it the hair youve grown will fall out. whether you can keep your minoxidil dependant hair using propecia is doubtful imo.

Nothing magical about your male pattern baldness, its diffuse thinning thats all.

Get on finasteride and or minoxidil and hope for the best.
