Hi.

Sorry for my bad english

I’m 24 years old. My main problem area is the hairline, temples has lifted. My hair is also a little bit thinner than it was for 2 years ago. Maybe it’s genetic from my father. He had thin hair on the crown, and high temples. But he didn’t get this before he turned 40. But his father again, never lost hair.
The strange thing is that is doesn’t seem like I’m loosing more hair than what is normal (I’ve heard that is between 50 and 100). I actually believe I loose less than 50. So the problem as I see it is that I don’t regrow what is lost at the temples. On the hairline at the forehead I have short hairs, I don’t know if they are growing, or falling out?.
I know that my hairloss has happened somewhere in the last 2 years and then kind of stopped and turned into the “normal for everyone†hairloss again.
I’ve always had thick, nice hair and I still have. Even my mother did not see that my temples had lifted until I showed her some pictures. So my situation is not bad. I know many envy me my hair.
1 year ago I had pneumonia, that lead to fever level at 40 degrees Celsius, that’s 104 F I think. The doctor gave me something we in Norway call Antibiotica, a medicine that cures infections. But he gave me the wrong type 2 times. So my fever was at 40 degrees Celsius due to the pneumonia for 3 weeks before I finally got the correct kind of medicine. In this period I had to eat 12 pain-stilling pills each day to keep the fever from going higher. I got really reduced for months afterwards by this, both body and hair. My major hairloss happened in that period and the period right after.
To the point :) . Is there anything I could do? I have read some posts here and it seems like the answer to all questions is finasteride. But my hair still looks good so I’m not so sure that I want to use it. In Norway it’s hard to get the doctor to allow you to take it, and the bi-effects scare me a little. Is there any other products that can help me regrow?
My scalp does also get “greasy†very fast.
Can products like: Tricomin therapy spray + shampoo + conditioner. Nizoral shampoo. Retin-A creme help me? What about minoxidil only applied at temples? Revivogen scalp therapy? Does all of these product lead to shedding?

Thank you for your time
Good luck to all the hairfighters :)

You need dutastride, proscar or propecia as a pill.

Greasy hair? Oh yeah, you have male pattern baldness.

too much dht in hair = greasy scalp

Tnx WorldofWarcraft

Yes it gets greasy after 4 days, so then I wash my hair. The best is to wash every 5th or 6th day I’ve heard. But that doesn’t work for me.
But it doesn’t get greasy if I’m not physical active. I lifts weights 3 times a week and therefore I sweat and need to wash more often. But it can be dht as you say.

Considering your early stages and if you do not want to take Propecia then you may wish to look into other "natural" products that may help inhibit DHT such as Epilobium, Pygeum, Nettles Leaf Powder, Beta Sitosterol.

Aside from that, you may want to supplement with Maxi Hair Vitamins by Country Life, as your hair may be malnourished!

Throw in some MSM (4 grams per dose) with at least 1 gram of Vitamin C (per dose) and see how you go.

WoW, is this ok with you? I think I did a good job not scaring him off with my mind over matter mumbo jumbo as you put it!

Is there one documented case on these forums were posters said someone probably have male pattern baldness, and the person came back and said no, you were wrong, turns out I don't have male pattern baldness and my hair is fine?

Im guessing no.

Greasy hair does not indicate male pattern baldness...it's just greasy hair.

A high temperature over an extended period of time is one of the major causes of Telogen Effluvium (telogen effluvium...which is hair loss caused by a shock to the system). Telogen Effluvium can look like regular male pattern baldness (many people think it's always diffuse thinning over the entire head). Maybe this is what you have but it's very difficult to diagnose. Is there a history of male pattern baldness in your family?
