Hell, it could be a lot worse.

When I was growing up, there was a guy we knew that was aggresively balding. I don;t mean slight thinning, or slight recession, I mean balding. This guy was a NW7 by 21, I swear on it. He's always been known as the bald guy. That could not have been easy. Some people lose their young adulthood as a result of hairloss, but this guy didn't even get to experience being a normal teenager. I ran into him a few years ago and the guy seemed pretty happy, and had a pretty sweet girlfriend with him. Good for him. He must be at a point where the jokes just bounce right off of him and he doesn't need to worry about losing anymore hair.

Yeah, I know a guy like that - he was noticeably receding at 15, now he's 24 and is a complete chrome dome with barely 2 inches growing around the back and a bit on the sides. Obviously he keeps it razored down nowadays, but it actually suits him now and looked really good last time I saw him... Luckily for him, though, he's got a really good head shape.

I don't know if the jokes just "bounce" off them, but I'd say they've accepted it a long time ago that they're going bald and learnt to deal with it.

I really feel for those who go through it so young - if the hair loss is that aggressive, you basically don't have a choice. Some accept it and get on with their lives, but many go through their teens and early adulthood severely depressed and unconfident.

A hell of a lot depends on wether the head shape (not to mention the overall look of being shaved down) can work well on the person. When those factors are really in favor some men don't care about going bald at all.

For me the lack of decent hair really cripples my appearance. It doesn't just subtract the benefit of having good hair, it literally accentuates all my worst features.

Yeah it could be worse for sure. But those kinda guys NEVER had good hair to begin with, so its not so bad for them, because its all they have ever known. Its more devastating for guys known for their awesome thick locks who are suddenly struck down with heavy hairloss in there early or mid twenties. You will find most of the guys on this board still have a reasonable amount of hair left. Those kinda guys dont bother visiting boards like this as they are over there hairloss fears and are living there life to the full. Which is what we should be doing...

How do you know? My hair has always been very thin but it still hurts to go bald in my mid-20's. Having naturally thin hair doesn't mean bald.
