Yoga litterature claims that practising the headstand (that famous posture where one is standing straight on the head crown and the elbows) for 30 minutes stops hairloss and can do even more than that.

Has anyone heard of that claim? Does anyone here practice it? If so with what result? Has it ever worked for anyone?

Maybe I should walk on my head to work for the next year to see shall I?

lol, standing on your head.

Now I think I've heard it all!

After this brain storm, I don't know why I don't just chuck out my propecia & minoxidil, and start living an upside down life.

That doesnt work =P

Circulation really doesnt seem to be the cause of hairloss.

A yogi made that claim at a medical conference, a few years ago. He himself had thinning hair before, that's what he said anyway.

Obviously this claim is very questionable, like any about that subject. But as I've always been interested in yoga anyway, I've started to do it a week ago. Only 15 minutes a day yet. No change in my hair, obviously, but I get more into it for the great feeling it gives you overall, mentally and physically. The heastand is meant to be the most beneficial of all the postures and yoga litterature says that if one practised only one of them, it should be that one.

Perhaps the cure for hairloss isn't a drug at all.

It's stupidity.

Which is why smart dudes are bald...and dumb kids gots hair.

Hmmmmmm

He claimed he discovered the cause of balding was the acid in shampoo.

I believe what he says is true. But shampoo was the cause of HIS hair loss. Not ours.

Shampooing my hair constantly definitely increases the shedding. I find that if I just rinse it with water and shampoo only every other day or so (with Nizoral or a thickening formula) it's in a lot better shape. Some people need to shampoo every day if they have really greasy hair (which also increases shedding), but others probably shouldn't.

Some people also suggest that applying urine on the scalp stops hair loss. That's probably what we all should do. Urine and no shampoo...

Headstands

Hi

I read with interest your post and was wondering how you were getting on with this. I used to do handstands for 1/2 minute each orning and night and I did see a positive effect on my hair although I had recently completed a programme with a "hair specialist" just prior. I was a bit wary to continue as I have heard a lot of negative thing about "inversion". I also understand that headstands are not so common in yoga now due to incresaed blood pressure in head being dangerous, although I am sure if you are under instruction by a proper yogi then you will be OK.

Please let me know how you are getting on as I am interetsed.

Which yogi? Yogi Bear or Yogi Berra?

i haven't been practicing the headstand long enough to see any improvement. But I'll let you know in a few months. 30 min is a long time though. It will be a struggle to keep a routine.

As to side effects, same answer. I just don't know yet. The only one i can see is a momentary hiss in my years when i stand back up. But this started to decrease.

I haven't seen any information about side effects. Where?

Hi

Thanks for repsonding. I cant be specific, I think I have seen a few things on the nes which suggest the headstand is not good for bloop pressure and that sort of thing.

I would be grateful to hear further from you.

That's BS because blood flow is not the problem of hair loss. If blood flow was the problem then hair transplant would not be possible on the top of the head.
