Having children while on Propecia/Finasteride

The company says that although Propecia/Finasteride is in the bloodstream, it's not found in semen but does caution about women handling the drug due to the risk of birth defects in male fetuses. Has anyone on here had children while using the drug? If so were they born perfectly healthy? I'm debating on whether or not I should stop taking the drug for a few months when I try to have a child. Thanx

I did research on this and have found that many had successfully conceived and had perfectly healthy children. There's not enough traces of finasteride in the semen for it to be of any concern.

Also note that even if your girlfriend/wife touched the pill, it should be OK because there's a protective film over it, however to be on the safe side, she should still stay away from it.

In my case, I'm planning to have children in the next few years, and I'll be off propecia for a few months before trying to conceive.

I'm not a doctor though, these are just based on my opinions and the research that I did.

I had a perfectly healthy son taking finasteride, along with dutasteride once a week.

I think the early concerns about finasteride and having children were largely precautionary.

This got posted on time! I'm currently deliberating on if should wait until my wife is pregnant before getting back on finasteride! Were currently trying!

I also had a kid. Thought as far as I remember I gave some time off like a few weeks before we started trying.. He's a perfectly healthy boy. :)

I never came off meds. My son wasn't planned either so certainly no issues with conception!

Just make sure your wife doesn't come into contact with it, you wouldn't want a son born with a genital defect now would you?!
