Just doing the monthly hair check up and I want your opinions. I have a V shaped receding hairline, theres no question. However there really hasnt been much change in my hair in about 2 years. Im currently 19 with balding in my family. My father has perfect hair but Ive learned that doesnt count for much.

What about your overall hair density? Are you thinning out at the crown? What kind of baldness pattern runs in your family?

The best way for you to monitor it is to keep close tabs on your hairline and your crown for a period of time and see if any further loss happens.

^ My crown and hair density are actually pretty good. I have thick hair. Its only the receding hairline I have to worry about.

Looks about the same to me. How's your dad and granddad on both sides?

If they've receded you can just check the hairline for miniaturization....you look OK to me, if you think you're receding it might just be really slow, so check to see if your relatives are similar.

Then it is hard to say at this point. What did your hairline used to look like? As of now I wouldn't say you have Androgenetic Alopecia beyond normal maturation. I say this because there is no thinning and the slight recession is symmetrical. Just keep an eye on it.

This is good advice but don't put too much stock into what you father and grandfathers' hairlines looked like. I would be very happy if I could have the hairline that either of my grandfathers or my dad had when they were my age. Having my maternal grandfather's hair and hairline would literally be just as life changing as winning a multi-million dollar jackpot for me.

No u have nor gone beyond a mature hairline in my opinion. In fact youd struggle a man that does not recede further than that in their twenties. (oviously excluding non- caucasians, and the odd freak that has his hairline in the middle of his forehead, )

The best indication of whether its male pattern baldness is signs of miniturization. Such as rows of hairs on the exterior of the hairline that r miniturized, but be aware that all hairs can be miniturized after they fall out and regrow in the mormal cycle. U should be looking for entire rows of miniturized hairs.

Whichever the case though, at the moment ur hair is fine, so i'd go live ur life now, because if u find out later u do have male pattern baldness, u will regret not making the most of ur junior years.

just my opinion though.
