Has it ever been established why only the front/top/crown is affected by male pattern baldness?

Damn the pattern of baldness is like a sick joke man. Why God?? Why not the sides instead of the top? Why hairloss at all?? These questions will never be answered but hopefully we can cure this sick disease.

It was massive over here from the late 90's up to about 2004/2005 when the emo thing came in. I used to have the spikey bleached hair, eyebrow and nipple pierced lol! Awww I feel old now :/

It's like one follicle is completely destroyed by DHT, but the follicle right adjacent to it is completely resistant. There must be a reason

Talk about a throwback. Bleached hair was the in-thing back in those days. I remember wanting it after seeing, I think Rhys Ifans, pulling it off even though he has blonde hair anyway. I can't imagine having bleached hair now though, it just looks silly in my opinion.

I went through all those styles, even did the classic 90's hair part like Matt Damon haha. I'm enjoying it long for now, I'll have to cut it in about a year when I start the interview process.

Aww you're making me feel all nostalgic now! I couldn't see me bleaching or highlighting again, but I do dye my hair black every now and again, now I know that I have a large forehead, I don't think I'd go back to the spikes either :/ lol!

I agree, that is a strange thing that doesn't make sense. Oh why couldn't it just be a simple fix? Imagine that, hair loss effectively cured. Men of the world rejoice, while the women of the world go "huh" and get on with their day!

Have you not been reading? 5-ar enzymes are produced right in the tissue. The genetically predisposed tissue generates this enzyme and dht catalyzes right within that area. The follicle next to it doesn't. Simple. I know you want some miracle cure because you're desperate but it won't happen. We would have to rewrite DNA and we don't even fully understand DNA. Otherwise you're stuck taking drugs for life. It's like asking why is it that every human man has facial hair right in those specific areas.

Yeah, I get nostalgic thinking about it all too. Man those were the good old days! Never spiked but I did the messy bedhead style for a long time. I know what you mean, I've lost some ground in the temples since I grew my hair long so I'm afraid to cut it short now. I'm 26, but I fear I will jump to looking like I'm 30 if I cut it.
