Has Anyone Continued To Lose Hair On Dutasteride?

If you know me on here, you know I’ve been considering switching from finasteride to dutasteride for a while now. I still haven’t pulled the plug, but I’m getting very close as I see my hair worsening.

I’m curious though, do most of you at least maintain medium-long term on dutasteride?

I’m unhappy with my hair as it is but if I can maintain for a long time on dutasteride, I may go for a transplant down the line. I JUST NEED MY HAIR TO STOP WORSENING

I would suggest stay on finasteride and get a transplant later on, don't bring out the dutasteride bazooka.

If dutasteride maintained hair, going bald would be a choice. But its not a choice, if God wants you bald, you will go bald. And God does not care what snake oils you take.

But for some lucky men, male pattern baldness can dramatically slow down by itself (usually around NW3/4), allowing a transplant to be an option.

basically, at some point down the road, when you cant fraud with topik anymore and you are getting close to slick bald you will have panick and will do anything to save your hair, so its better to give it a shot while you have something to fight for, before it's too late, happened same way for me with finasteride, i didnt want to take it, but when i started seeign my scalp through hair i run to kitchen and swallowed a pill instantly

If finasteride is starting to lose its effect, then I would say you should strongly consider switching to dutasteride. I've been using dutasteride for over five years and it has stopped my hair loss dead in its tracks and given me a significant amount of regrowth.

I'm not sure whether or not you've had side-effects on finasteride. But bear in mind that if you happen to have got sides on finasteride, you will get the same sides on dutasteride only more severe, as dutasteride is effectively just a stronger version of finasteride.

Luckily I have 0 side effects on finasteride.

You’re the type of person I like to hear from.

We’re you on finasteride before? If so, how long? Did you continue to lose on finasteride?

I took finasteride for a few weeks before switching to dutasteride. I wasn't on finasteride long enough to know whether it would have grown hair for me, but I did notice that it had stopped my shedding. In hindsight, maybe I should have given finasteride a bit more of a chance instead of switching to dutasteride so soon, but now after five years on dutasteride, I have kept all my hair and have had a lot of regrowth, so I have no complaints.

How long have you been on finasteride yourself?

I am in the same situation as you are. Been on finasteride for 9 months now, hairline kept receding. I will probably start 0.15 mg dutasteride next week

0.15mg? That is an unusual dose. Will you be achieving this dose (approx.) by taking 0.5mg twice a week?

15 months, and I believe my hair has thinned overall. Not much change in hairline, just my density is worse.

How many hairs do you lose a day?
I’m not sure, I don’t pay attention to it that much. Every time I run my hand through my hair I lose about 1-2 though. There are some people here who have maintained for over 10 years who say their shedding never stopped so I don’t believe shedding is a good indicator of how much hair your losing.

although, my hair does feel a lot thinner, and looks worse while wet than it did when I started finasteride.
