I stopped taking finasteride in May because of fatty nipps. It's been SIX MONTHS and they are still here. Meanwhile my hair is going to sh*t. If you are getting this side get off finasteride ASAP! Your nipples are only going to get worse, lowering the dosage will not help ( I tried that too before quiting for good) and you will not be able to get them back to normal. I've tried cardio -- it's got nothing to do with your body weight. The only solution is probably surgery.

Jeez guys, just run a low dose AI to keep the estrogen at bay.

To reduce existing gyno, upping the dose adding a SERM would help, like Nolvadex.

You DONT need to stop the finasteride.

There are a few fellas (eg jayman and bubka) on this site who think that those of us who get finasteride induced gyno are imagining it.

I feel for you mate. I had gyno a few years ago and got lucky, in terms of having it reversed. I had the humiliation of going to an NHS breast assessment clinic with the physician telling me that most finasteride induced gyno is not reversible. He said most gyno he saw was steroid induced and then the next biggest cause was finasteride.

He prescribed tamoxifen for 3 months with excellent results so you might want to give it a try. As for hair loss, I wont touch finasteride, on Spectral DNC and Borage at the moment.

Good luck

Thinning, you are wrong to advise people to continue taking the finasteride if they get gyno. The medical advice I received was at the first sign of breast discomfort, stop finasteride immediately.

I will repeat...in most cases gyno IS NOT reversible...is it a chance worth taking?

I feel like it is worth it.

You can get rid of gyno. They can cut and suck it out.

I would rather keep my hair and deal with gyno that i can easily hide and get removed, than be bald.

My hair means more to me than my chest.

Gyno is curable...hair loss is not (yet).

So gyno is curable is it? Talking shite mate, the development in male breast in gyno is actually breast tissue, you know ducts and all that business...it may look like fat, but it's not. I had an ultrasound scan when i had mine and you could clealry see the development of the tissue.

Suction isn't therefore an answer my ignorant friend, the only answer if you don't respond to tamoxifen is a full mastectomy...if you think that looks good, you are a sick individual. Take a look at some of the male breast cancer sites and you will see what looks best, hair loss or the hideous scarring of a mastectomy.

Some people really should think twice before offering such crap advice.

BS, drug induced gyno is reversible in about 75% of cases with Letro and Nolva treatment.

The finasteride wont do anything bad if you get your estrogen in check by taking an AI, or are taking a SERM it wont matter what your estrogen is, it wont further aggrevate the gyno.

You dont know WTF you are talking about BTW, you are just going by what some dumbass doctor who doesent want to get sued told you.

Blueshard, you're obviously speaking as someone who does not have a gyno problem, because trust me, if you had it, you'd be saying, f*** the hair, just give me my chest back -- because here's the thing...

Balding is natural. There are plenty of women out there who are understanding and don't give a sh*t about a man going bald.

But...

Man Boobs are NOT NATURAL. And good luck finding a woman that will be comfortable sucking on them.

'Dumass doctor'...hmmm...no I cant be arsed trying to explain to you. For your reference he is an emminent breast specialist, not a finasteride prescribing doctor and he works in the NHS in the UK so I'm not sure how you imagine I'd be suing him.

You are very, very wrong about you stats regarding reversibilty and the reasons for this were explained to me in great detail. I'm afraid you have proven your ignorance by suggesting that you can get gyno 'sucked out', so please stop trying to convince yourself and others.

You are a very silly man.

Floyd,
Actually I do have a gyno problem so I understand how much it sucks.

you can get the gyno removed. Not only by liposuction but by cutting out the breast tissue.

There are docs who do beautiful work on guys with this condition.

di you take 20mg a day, and any sides?

i also had to quit because of the fatty gyno, 2 months on and its still there if not worse, im thinking of going on tamoxifen for a month or two to get rid of it as i really don't want to be seeing the Dr about it, but if that doesn't work then its gotta be surgery. the worst bit is the burning pain is still there, its not gone after 2 months of stopping finasteride.

theres a surgeon called levick whose supposed to be one of the best at removign gyno fat and breast tissue, £3000 for the op is the only downside!

long term use of tamoxifen can cause cancer so i wouldn't recommend it, bodybuilders only use it in cycles not all the time

Hairfin, yes it was 20mg a day for 3 months...I noticed results at about the 5 week mark. I would have stayed on for another couple of months, but no longer than that.

Only side effect was a low libido, but since finasteride had totally killed that anyway, it wasn't a big issue. The tamoxifen results are permanent as long as you stay away from finasteride that is.

On the subject of surgery, yes tissue can be removed and I looked into it when I feared the worse, but the results are very patchy. Given the small size of male breast, it can leave a lumpy, uneven and aesthetically unappealling chest.

Hope it works out for you, I still get really annoyed about the level of contempt some people have for those of us who can't tolerate finasteride. Not sure what that is about.

Let me know how you get on.

Sorry but what's an AI? (I don't think you mean Artificial Intelligence there, lol).
