Please, do NOT take any offense at what I am saying below. I mean no harm, just poking fun at some common phenomenon that have become my personal 'pet peeves' here at HairLossTalk.com dot com.

1) Misspelling runs rampant here at HairLossTalk.com.
In my opinion, misspelling is a bad habit. Back in my days at business school, one misspelling automatically dropped your grade to a C. Correct spelling and grammar is a sign of a refined and educated individual, and people will judge you on it when applying for jobs, etc. Pay attention to your spelling. Lazy habits here on the MB will carry over to more important aspects of your communications. In other words, it is propecia, not 'porpecia' nor 'propeciar'. It is minoxidil, not 'minxodil' nor 'minixodil, and similarly it is MY WIENER, not MY WEINER.

2) PWI, or Posting Under the Influence.
'I gor home tonght form the bvar and a feeel like sh*t. My harij loks terrivble and i am sidck of hit and I wma going to kill my hairlstyklst because somehone at ahthe bar said I liookk like shitnkand called my a bald onne.'

3) PFRL, or Post First, Read Later
There are few displays of lunacy greater than PFRL. Case in point, someone makes a thorough, 2 page posting describing how Nizoral benefits a hairloss regimen in many ways. Then, someone submits a post ten minutes later with the title 'What is this Nizoral stuff?' grrrrrr!

4) AAA10kTB, or Already Asked and Answered Ten Thousand Times Before. (Also referred to as 'Reply Number 4...')
Case in point... the infamous post, usually by a newbie, titled "Why should I use minoxidil if it makes me shed?"

Sometimes I wish we had a numbered list of frequently asked questions, and numbered corresponding answers. That way, instead of the poster having to type out that full question, he could save himself the typing energy and, after referring to the FAQ, just type 'Question number 3'. Then, we could reply to him by just typing 'Reply number 3! Good luck on your regimen, buddy!'

5) Chain Hype! This is the most insidious phenomenon on this board. One participant here makes a personal observation in a posting... such as, 'I've been on Minoxidil for 5 months and there has been no improvement, just constant shedding.'
This post then spawns 'Chain Hype'... predictably, two or three posters will immediately respond with new threads, titled things such as 'Minoxidil only causes sheds and does NOT work!!' And, 'Minoxidil is a FRAUD, it causes shedding!'

How come this forum doesn't have a spell-checker? Other forums I use have the ability to run a spell check before submission.

Hi The Gardener, you are free to have your 'pet peeves' but I would like to address your first one.

For some people miss spelling words is not do to laziness, for example I am dyslexic and my spelling is very bad. I do try and use a spell checker when I can but part of my disability also inhibits my ability to decipher which word is the one I am looking for. I come here to get help and when I can give it, speed is sometimes of essence so I am not overly worried about my spelling

I take no offence to your post just though that I would bring that up.

PS Hope I spelled that all right

The plural of "phenomenon" is usually "phenomenona", but sometimes you also see "phenomenons". But what you wrote was probably a typo, rather than a misspelling per se.

Damn. I looked at both of those spellings, and decided that "weiner" WAS correct! I looked it up, and you're right: it's "wiener". Yikes.

My own personal Pet Peeve has more to do with atrocious grammar than simple misspellings, like the inability to understand when pronouns are used in the objective case, and when they are used in the nominative case ("This is between he and I"). SHUDDER.

Another thing that astounds me is the growing indifference to the distinction between "LIE" and "LAY". I frequently even hear professional announcers misuse the two: "Lay down and go to sleep." "Laying in bed all day isn't healthy." SHUDDER.

No, that was a typo... I guess I get an automatic C. Damn!

I before E, except after C, and the numerous other exceptions to this rule of thumb... but I was really poking fun at HairLossTalk.com's R K - 1 9 swipe.

In other words, it is propecia, not 'porpecia' nor 'propecia'.

I can live with the fact that it can't be spelled 'porpecia', but that last spelling - God, I'll be facing a hard time avoiding that. o_O

LOL! I missed that the first time around!

Yeah, it's spelled "propecia", and don't you DARE spell it "propecia"! :D Gardener, your grade has dropped to an F.

I think the spelling issue is because people just want to get their point across as quickly as possible and don't have time to spell check. But I have to agree, Propecia really is causing a lot of people to make spelling mistakes.

One pet hate of mine is when someone asks where he or she can get cheap Propecia. I just want to jump on their heads.

I also hate replies to posts. There is nothing worse than making a really nice post and then someone comes along and replies. Now that really does piss me off big time.

I also hate people who appear to be more intelligent than me. They can go and stick there head down the loo.

The answer is always the opposite of what you've posted.

Actually, it's the term "DHT inhibitor" which I've criticized the most, but I suppose "DHT blocker" is equally vague!

Good catch wino.. but that is actually intentional. There is a character limit on the signature block and had to skip the apostrophes.
