I guess what I am asking is, did they just go "dammit, it only works for 83% of the group. Oh well, let's wrap it up!" OR are they investigating the difference between the two groups (the "success" and "failures")?

I don't think it didn't work at all for the rest. Perhaps the "genetic pressure" was to high at those people. That means that lowering the DHT-level at 70% as it is done with finasteride was not enough to protect their follicles. Without Propecia they would have lost even more hairs I think.

I'm in the unlucky group of 17% that it didn't work. Still sheded after 16 months. But I still doubt that it doesn't work at all. Maybe it slowed down the loss rate but still I "thinned". It was too hard to tell.

However, when I added minoxidil, I got amazing regrowth. Perhaps the 2 together is better than one alone so I still use the Propecia.
