Hairloss with low DHT

I've had acne (treated with Accutane) , I'm hairy and balding. When I looked cures for balding, I found finasteride which works by lowering DHT. Then I googled DHT and found out that DHT affects all of those (acne, body hair, hairloss). I thought I have alot of DHT, went to doctor to ask for recipe for finasteride. He wanted to test my DHT levels before prescribing finasteride. I got the results and my DHT level are 1.09 nmol/l on a 1.03 - 2.92 scale. How can I be balding if my DHT levels are almost on a minimum? I probably can't even take finasteride because then I would get gyno or other symptoms. I'm thinking could Accutane have ****ed my skin somehow so it's more prone to DHT? You hear people getting all kinds of wierd symptoms from Accutane. I got all these symtoms afted taking Accutane and it's probably not normal for 14 yo (I'm 23 now) to have full ches-thair. Maybe it's just my skin and doesn't have anything to do with Accutane, but the questions is, can this be healed somehow? It would be huge thing, if somebody could help.

Wow!
Totally blows my dumb theory out of the water, I thought you had to have really high DHT levels to have such extreme body hair...
I would of thought considering you have faily low DHT levels you might not experience less/no sides because it may not be such an extreme change to your body? Just some broscience theory. I would give it a chance.
I think it has something to do with have really sensitive DHT receptors, or whatever which is causing your hair loss...like extremely sensitive.

Though I don't understand the whole accutane= hair loss thing, I do understand there is a connection I just don't get it.

I have low T and DHT as well. My test is 390 in a range of 270-1000 and my DHT is at a similarly low level, yet I have probably the most aggressive hair loss of anyone on these forums and have masculine traits as well (can gain muscle easily, deep voice, lots of body hair and ability to grow full beard by 16, super high libido). I was actually pretty shocked to find my T was so low. I was sure it was going to be on the high side of the range.

I don't think having low DHT to start off with will make it any better. finasteride wil still inhibit DHT by 70%. For someone with 3nmol/l this will inhibit to about 1 nmol/l but if u have 1nmol/l to start off with it will put u down to .3nmol/l

I went to endocrinologist and he said normally Finasteride is prescribed by dermatologists, but he would do it if I have high DHT. I haven't talked to him after I got my results in mail and it seems unnecessary, because don't you get to side effects from Finasteride when you have too little DHT in your body to block estrogen and my DHT levels would probably sink under the normal scale. Accutane makes your skin more fragile and during the treatment you shouldn't do waxing of hair, tattooing, tattoo removal, piercings, dermabrasion, exfoliation etc. Maybe my skin never healed, atleast it does seem to be more fragile, but I don't know does this have anything to do with my situtation. I ordered natural products from Standard Process (Dermatrophin and Regeneplex). They were promoted for Accutane suffers for healthy skin and connective tissue.

I got a blood test post-starting dutasteride and my DHT is so low it cant even be registered. I have no sides at all.

Maybe I will contact my doctor, I think it over the weekend. Isn't there possibility that some of the side effects are permanent?

zzzzz, did you ever have your estrogen levels measured? estrone, estradiol, estriol, and hydroxylated versions? I have really deep voice and more body hairs than most, but my T level is in the 600 ng/dL and DHT is 1.06 nmol/L without finasteride or DHT inhibitor uses.

I believe it's the genetic sensitivity to DHT that causes male pattern baldness than DHT levels alone. Else every average DHT person would be balder than you. Think of it as diabetes. If one doesn't have it genetically than taking sugar doesn't hurt but if you have it you need to reduce sugar intake well below non diabetics. Sugar is DHT and genetic male pattern baldness is diabetes in my analogy.
