Is it just me, or is the photo at the main page

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/
(a bald guy looking at the camera with his girlfriend beside him looking off to the right)

discouraging to people losing there hair?

It looks like the girl is looking away in disgust, thinking 'oh f***, now this loser is going bald?' Anyone agree?

LOL!! I never noticed that but yeah she does look as if she's thinking "Damn he had a NW1 when I met him".

LOL. I don't get that vibe at all. I think you are just projecting your own self loathing onto the situation.

I actually thought his girlfriend looked content and was comforting him, the look in his eyes looks much more sadder ("I am losing my hair, how will my girlfriend stick around if she no longer finds me attractive?")

if your girlfriend dont find you attractive just because you dont have hair on your head, i think its time to move on.

haha!! Never realized that but it does look that way.

I'd say it's more funny than discouraging though.

Yeah, it doesn't really discourage me because it's realistic. And yeah, it is funny - whoever set that photo up must be bald himself - it really captures the emotions I think someone like that guy would have in real life.

Couple of things.

- First of all, that guy looks GOOD without hair! As if he f****** needs hair to be attractive. He looks reasonable, and decent enough.

- I know it's just for the ad, but hypothetically speaking if he had a NW1 or 2 when she met him and it's 3 or more years from this point, and she's moaning, then that's just sad. How do you get to know and love someone for years and stop loving him because he's lost hair now. Jesus...

- At first, I didn't look at it that way. I thought she was sad for him, meaning she's upset because he's a sufferer. I do not think she's thinking about herself.

Also I think that's a new home page.

Yeah that photo did kind of make my heart sink. Me, having a gf, and while I was balding by the time we started going out I think I have gotten slowly worse until now. I wish they could have used a better pic. Put Statham up there kicking *** and making out with supermodels. That dude makes me too depressed.

I think their goal was to get people to do something about their hair loss.

IMO if they put in a bald dude pimping chicks, it would make sufferers of male pattern baldness feel good about their hair loss and become careless. Not saying that is BAD, but I think their goal is to get you to do something.

I think HairLossTalk.com's message is more about providing support for primarily young men who are losing their hair. Many users here decide to buzz it short/shave it and work on their body and build confidence in other ways, whether they tried the big three or not. Yes, HairLossTalk.com does reveal this secret about early hairloss: that it may be reversible or that it the process can be slowed with regular use of finasteride, minoxidil, and Nizoral. But I think the most important thing on this message board is the community built here. I'd much rather have a pic of a successful balding superstar than that guy who looks defeated and hopeless. Honestly, even a pic of Larry David or something. He's someone who might actually be interested in supporting a group of young guys with thinning hair.

Anyway, with all that I've learned here, I think that is the worst pic to put as the poster for this website. Successful bald dudes would really help bring morale up more then that miserable dude and his drifting girlfriend.

But its got to be realistic, there are'nt many balding superstars on here. Just average looking guys with ordinary concerns about losing their hair.
Infact putting up a pic of a Jason Statham/Kelly Slater type is counter productive because it just supports the view that we have no reason to be worried. Like all the non baldies who just say "look at (bald actor/sportstar) it does'nt bother him"
If we all had the looks and talents of these guys we would'nt care about going bald.
