Hairloss During Minoxidil Application Everyday?

Hi everyone,

I am a diffuse thinner who started 5% minoxidil foam approximately 6 weeks ago. I noticed during every application, I lose about 20-25 hairs (small to medium length). I wanted to know is this normal?

How many hair do you all lose on average?

Also, around what week did you start to notice gains (thickness or regrowth)?

I would say you are going through shedding phase. My minoxidil sheddeing started week 2 since the first application. I think diffuse thinners like you and I experience extra shedding becuase of wide thinning area compare to others.
I used to lose 15 to 20 when I apply minoxidil till Month 2. Now I am in Month 4 i still lose but not as much as before.

I am on finasteride and apply minoxidil once before I go to bed. I am noticing my hair slightly getting thicker although my hairloss hasnt stopped yet. But I notice significant regrowth in my temple area so it means minoxidil and fina is working.

Diffuse thinners are considered as good a responder to both treatment. I hope this will help you. Do not stop minoxidil. At least wait until Month 6. Cheers
