Hello everyone want to know what Norwood you all think I am. If you guys think it’s bad if you could recommend a possible way to maintain or possibly regrow without taking finasteride, had a bad reaction to it. Dad is 50 and still has hair, the last 2 pictures are me from freshman year of high school 15yrs old. I turn 25 very soon, I think I have a big forehead as well, would like some unbiased feedback, I appreciate it!

Anybody have any thoughts should I try fina again if I had bad sides the first time??? Need some help would like to at minimum keep what I have. Just had gnarly heart palpitations and anxiety while on it, was on it for about 2 weeks.

Honestly it doesn't look like you are balding at all. You just have a big forehead and a mature hairline. But if you are noticing shedding and that it's receding more and more than you are probably balding. I would try finasteride again. Side effects can go away after a couple of months. Ride it out. I don't think heart palpitations and anxiety are side effects for finasteride. Perhaps you were subconsciously causing it yourself due to your fear of the medication?

Well anxiety is a side effect for fina. Im not sure for heart palpitations. It's true it doesn't look like you are balding though or maybe it is just a slight recession. I wouldn't try finasteride again if you had a bad experience with it, but you could try microneedling + minoxidil on the temple/hairline.

NW2 with a big forehead.

See the problem with that is if you lose virtually anything, you're going to be in point of no return territory. You know if you have lost something over time, get on finasteride if so.

Appreciate the feedback guys, I have noticed my hair has gotten a little less thick over time nothing crazy. @OldnBald thats why I’m worried a bit is because of my forehead. Has anything besides finasteride worked for any of you? What about like PRP?

That is the key imo, the thickness and quality of your hair. After you have had a bath or shower also is your hair more flatter and less bounce on it it is another way to tell also if balding.

Speaking from experience worst thing I ever did when I was in my 20s was not to get on something its virtually impossible for hair loss treatments to work when there is lack of hair or no hair, finasteride is an easy step its just a pill.

@FBaldy yeah man I totally feel you. What about PRP or any alternatives to fina? I’m willing to drop money at my age for a different solution besides fina? Any ideas? I can definitely tell I’m slowly receding over time.

Honestly has anyone had success with prp or any other treatment besides finasteride, minoxidil, or a transplant to at least thicken your hairline?

I had a similar experience, sort of a mild chest discomfort. Could also have been palpitations. Through some anecdotal research, I found a couple of people that switched from different brands of generics actually triggered this reaction but it went away when they switched back to their original finasteride brand that worked. (Generics aren't always the same, not just for Finasteride but all medication) so I believe it's worth a shot to try another brand if it only gave you this symptom IMO.

Other people take a break to heal from their pain before they start at a much lower dose while building their way up, they experience no chest pain later.

Because of these findings I have decided to better prepare.
Next Monday I will be starting a different generic brand, as well as beginning at a low dose of just 0.25mg ED.

I have no idea if this will help you but if you ever want to try finasteride again down the road, please consider these things -

1. Trying a different brand
2. Starting at a low dose (0.5 or 0.25)
3. If you experience mild sides, stick with it for atleast 12 weeks to see if they subside. (A hairloss specialist I spoke to here in the UK suggests a 12wk trial period when trying finasteride or dutasteride).

@GreenEggs I literally was so stoked on the fina when I started taking it (confidence wise) for like a week. Then I just started not being able to sleep and started having insane chest pains/anxiety and heart palpitations. I really want to get back on it but it just fucked me up. Has anything else worked at all for you or anyone that you have heard from. It’s such a bummer but Now I just feel like it will even be harder to take due to me Knowing that the finasteride fucked me up the first time. Also got my fina from HIMS don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

Trying finasteride again is totally up to you my dude. Personally I don’t have much hairloss, I think my hairline is similar to yours in fact. I’ve only tried finasteride now so I can’t say what else works out there.

However there is this video that may be able to help you still, this guy has done his research, here’s a link...

Well, exosomes are there hottest thing going right now, which is like a prp 2.0. but it costs a plenty.

Get on finasteride. I'm 2.5 months in, no side effects, and I'm already starting to see results. Can't wait to hit that 8 month mark, which is usually the point where 80-90% of your results will have occurred.

You have nice hair, I wouldnt do anything at this point, but just keep an eye on it periodically in case of drastic changes.

Damn @OldnBald that looks just like prp, so shitty they haven’t came out with any reliable solution for at least maintenance. I am so on the verge of giving fina another shot, I’m stoked for you that you are getting good results brother. @whatintheworld im so torn, I can definitely tell my hair has thinned a little, maybe I am just in my head about it if you don’t think it looks bad? Idk I just want to do what I can while I’m still young and not wait till it’s to late you know? Hopefully I’m just a very slow receder. Are you on anything?

I'm on the big 3 because my hair is much worse than yours. In your position I would not become a slave to finasteride and minoxidil like the rest of us. Once you start this stuff, you're on it for life.
