Thanks but I’m not willing to take any drugs or have a hair transplant. I’m not sure I follow the logic that since my hair will eventually go, I might as well shave it all off now. Surely if I have something worth keeping, I should keep it for as long as possible? (Before it looks bad of course!). I’ve realised from this thread I should give up “growing it long”. I’ll get it cut this weekend. Question is whether short back and sides, buzz cut or razor shave??

if you are not planning on saving your hair its time to let go and take it all off, your front can only be filled with a hair transplant

If you’re committed to growing it long then dispense with the “tidying up trims” because they just set you back and most barbers inevitably take too much off. You just have to see it through the untidy phase where it’s neither short or long. As it gets longer I recommend washing your hair and then brushing it into shape when you get out of the shower. Give yourself time to let it dry naturally and then brush again.

I’m growing out a Norwood 3V. The difference is I’m using treatments and I’m fairly confident all of my existing hairs are back in the anagen phase. Without treatments you’re attempting to grow against the miniaturisation.

I think it’s not an awkward stage I’m in. I can extrapolate forward and conclude that long hair would be extremely unflattering to me. Particularly when I’m not bothering with drugs or transplant. I’ll just get a haircut and consider shaving my head properly when I’ve lost even more.

Take Minoxidil, at least do that.

If you took Finasteride, you would probably gain at least 30% back, and look
much better.

FYI: Both work on the hair line/temples as well.

I started Finasteride at 43. My only regret is I didn't
take it sooner.

It sounds like you've given up though. Say goodbye to any
chance of getting your hair back then.

Is it not better just to accept and embrace hair loss? From what I’ve googled about Finasteride, it can cause flacid penis.

It can do, but it's very unlikely.

It's made me more horny than ever. Also, I've been on these forums for about 6mths and I've only seen one person complain about impotence and even then he seemed to acknowledge it was a placebo/psycho side effect.

If you genuinely do experience sides for finasteride, just stop taking it.

Man let me tell you finasteride will bring back enough hair and cause enough density to grow it long even a ponytail I was just as bald as you one year later my family and friends were asking what miracle happened no sides either
