Hair way thinner after finasteride

Started on 1.25 mg and minoxidil 20 months ago and experienced significant loss of density from 9-11 months. Now I'm thin in the crown, back, sides, and mid anterior where these areas were very thick pre-finasteride. The most troubling thing is ALL of my hair has significantly decreased in diameter. I started cutting the dosage in december and now I'm at around .37 mg or so. It seems that the unlucky few that get worse on 5ar inhibitors get screwed twice as badly because of the upregulation of AR. I've read every account on the internet and some people improve and some just continue to get worse. I feel like I'm trying to defuse a bomb and my hands are shaking and i'm sweating profusely. It really sucks. There is no way of knowing what's going to happen and that's why I'm weening off slowly in hopes that I can see which way I may be headed.

Anyone else out there in a similar quandry?

Ps. I know way more about hairloss now than I ever wanted to before I popped that damn pill. I wish had googled 'Propecia destroyed my hair' before starting the drug. I had no idea that was even possible.

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Several people have reported an acceleration of hair loss caused by finasteride, and I am definitely one of them. It sucks man. It's horrible and frustrating to realize, the only really hair loss medication available is f*cking you even more than just not even taking it. IF you are well below baseline after 20 months, drop it like a rock now. Basic logic is telling you that the medication is not working. finasteride just quickly obliterated my hair. I lost about 30% density in 10 months.

The problem is that you're assuming that your hair loss would not have gotten worse if you hadn't started finasteride. I forget what the percentage is but when most people use finasteride they just hope for maintaining.

Buckthorn, did you quit cold turkey? What happened to your hair when you stopped?

Funny thing happened to me. I got my finasteride from CVS for the past 2 years. It used to always come in a bottle that was orange with my name on it etc. Suddenly in September, the propecia came in a white bottle that was pre sealed. Ever since I started taking this finasteride, I've been losing ground and hair has shrunk in diameter. I find it so weird that I was experiencing amazing results and then once I started to get this finasteride, my hair went to ****. I picked up my prescription yesterday and it looks like they are now giving me the propecia in the generic orange bottle with my name on it ETC.

The pre-sealed white bottle of propecia was made by Accord in India. Probably fake **** or something.

Yeah, quit two months ago. Then, being the extremely intelligent, rational patient person I am, decided that dutasteride would be a better option (sarcasm, lol), so in one last stand, I started dutasteride, 15% minoxidil w/finasteride and RU58841. well...everything chilled out for a second, the in the past three weeks, scalp inflammation through the roof. So, I am dropping dutasteride and going with RU in neogenic, which feels awesome so far, and 15% minoxidil just once a day without finasteride. I think I need to get off of a) oral 5-AR inhibitors and b) propylene glycol. I will let you know how it goes!
