there is plenty of info on this site, use the search function

im in the uk too and apart from dr rogers

http://www.rogersclinic.co.uk/hairloss-home.asp

will not be considering a uk surgeon

the very best are in north america/canada

http://www.alviarmanihairtransplants.com/

http://www.fellermedical.com/

http://www.hassonandwong.com/

http://www.rahalhairtransplant.com/

and dr cole has a lot of fans but i dont know his website

post pictures and talk to many people here and are you on meds? if you are not on meds then get on them and do not get a hair transplant for at least a year

you need to stablise loss before surgery

if you dont then youll continue to lose hair,a big part of considering a hair transplant is trying as hard as possible to save what you already have

you MUST search this site/forum for advice, experiences and results from hair transplant patients

thanks.
im not on meds at the moment. im planning on going on propecia soon though. ill post pictures later. im a norwood 4/5 at the moment.

hmm i dont really like the idea of travelling far and to another country but i may have to to get the best treatment i suppose.

would it be best for me to go to a norwood 7 then get a hair transplant? im probably on the way to that pretty soon.

also when they transplant the hair. does the actual hair root grow? or stay the same length?

as many people will tell you,NEVER let geography determine where you get a hair transplant

its good you are getting on propecia soon, add minoxidil foam and nizoral shampoo too

if in a year you have stabilised your hairloss then look into a hair transplant

the hair will grow as normally as it would as if it had been there all along

all your questions and more you will find answers to among the many and well informed members here

good luck

Why do you think you will end up as a Norwood 7? Do you have that in your family history? Do extensive research. Really, this is not the time to be making decisions about sugery.

I don't want to get you down, but I have seen many, many class 7s over the years. Guess what? IMO, an extremely high percent of them are not candidates for the procedure. Many of the class 7 patients have the potential for donor area thinning as well and it's almost always in their respective family histories.

An extremely high percent of the class 7s that I have met who did in fact have hair transplant surgery, have regretted it. The only exceptions were those who had extremely conservative goals. But I can count them on one hand with a few fingers left if you know what I mean. This is no bull.

Most of them were not at class 7 when they were sold on multiple hair transplant procedures, rather they were younger men, and many had major permanent shockloss and then they are sold more procedures to try and cover the loss from the trauma related shock, etc. THERE'S NEVER ENOUGH DONOR TO GO AROUND. That's the point. IMO, any ethical Doctor would have covered family history extensively and turned them away.

They are better candidates for HM, but we all know that is not a viable option yet. A fair number of them go to high end quality hair pieces. Hopefully HM will emerge with consistent success soon! :hairy:

Yes, there's BHTs, but remember, that technology is still in the trial stages as far as I am concerned. I think it's great for repair and/or filler grafts, but not as a primary donor source for the obvious reasons. Don't get me wrong, I have in fact seen several mega BHT sessions with reasonably good yields, but they are the exception from what I have seen to date.

The fundamental problem is that there are not enough published BHT cases to evaluate. The other is taking the various telogen phases into consideration as we all know they vary from different areas of extraction sites, chest, back, legs, etc, etc. The jury is still out on that one.

gilenator. the reason why i think ill end up a norwood 7 is becuase ive got the exact same hairloss as my uncle. he's a 7 now. my hairloss started when i was 18 with a receeding hiarline. and now im a norwood 5 at 23.

i can see alot of skin on my crown. its inevitable i will have the horse shoe affect.

i have quite alot of body hair touch wood. will that not help?

Body hair is not really a good option, most hair transplant surgeons dont do it and those who do charge alot! Also the hairs themselves dont do a very good job as far as coverage goes.

Get on the meds and stay on them for at least 6 months, go to Dr Rogers if you are inthe UK in the meantime to check if hair transplant will be good for you. With luck you will respond well and stabilise at NW5 on the meds or if really good responder get back to NW4.

If you wait till NW7 then you wont be a candidtate for hair transplant as you won't have enough donor hair

thanks.
i was relying on body hair transplant to be honest. my hair is curly i think i was hoping that would help with the BHT.

im a norwood 5 at the moment and i think hair transplant is my only option if i want my crown with more hair. yep im going to see a specialist to see if ill benifit from a hair transplant. but my hopes have probably been dashed by th looks of it.
