Hair Transplant at 20

Hi guys, I will be 20 soon. I think I have aggressive male pattern baldness. I have lost an inch on my hairline in about 6 months. I did start minoxidil two months ago which seemed to accelerate the loss.

What is your opinion of a hair transplant at my age? Hair is more valuable to me the younger I am. I am not seeing any particular advantage from waiting until I'm 25 or 30 to do this procedure.

If I do decide to go this route, I'll keep you guys posted and hopefully it will help somebody else who is in my situation.

minoxidil is not a stand alone treatment and shedding after use it is normal. I wouldn't recommend a hair transplant if your hairloss is agressive, it need to be stable first so it is better that you start using finasteride first.

Why does it need to be stable? Aren't future hair transplant procedures assumed?

I think it's a policy issue, the surgeons don't want to do something that ultimately makes you look worse. Hair loss at the hairline can be particularly aggressive and fast so you get your FUE and by the time the new hairs grow in (unless I'm mistaken you shed the transplanted hairs and they grow back, right?) the hairs behind have miniaturised and you have a random thinning line just behind your new hairline so may not get a positive result at all, or might have one for a few months before it looks silly.

Absolutely horrible you seeming know almost nothing about available treatments. You realize you will lose all the rest of your hairline and will be left with an akward transplant at the front and not enough donor hair to cover whats behind it? You think your loss is magically stopping when you get your transplant?

You aren't even on finasteride or dutasteride as a means of stopping your loss longterm, and you haven't even tried them yet
