Hair thinning since 6th grade. Now 20, Help!

I am a 20 year old male and I've had hair balding/thinning problems at the crown of my head almost my whole life. My parents told me that I was balding ever since I was in 6th grade. They didn't act on it, and considering the thinning was occurring at the top-back of my head, I didn't see it and lived in disbelief. Then a friend, during 6th grade, was standing over me when I was sitting on the train, noticed my thinning crown and laughed, saying "wow, you're balding already!" This hit home and I grabbed double mirrors and confirmed that I was actually thinning at a young age. From then on, it affected my confidence and I have always been trying to hide it when I was in public, looking at the ground everywhere I went.

I've tried ignoring it and avoiding it because I thought that hair grew back and it was just a phase of my life I would outgrow, considering I was so young. Now I'm 20 and the problem is getting worse and I can't seem to find the root of the problem. I wouldn't call myself unhealthy, but I am definitely not fit. I would not let this bother me if the thinning wasn't apparent, but I've gotten numerous comments, whether from friends or even my barber that I was a bit young to be thinning already.

Self-Observations:
1) I would always sleep on my thinning crown (fell asleep horizontal, wake up with my pillow propped up) and would sometimes wake up with my crown hurting. (Felt tender. If pressed down on that area, there would be mild & light pain.--- physical related thinning?)
2) Vitamin D deficiency-blood test results
3) Not unhealthy, but not healthy either.
4) Sleep deficiency not a factor
5) Thinning started around puberty. (Hormonal related thinning? I was a horny kid. Don't judge. )
6) No known disease or disorders
7) Depression - I've dealt with this recently, but I don't think I was depressed as a kid.
8) My doctor sucks at this problem. (Literally changes the subject when I bring it up.)

Question:
Obviously there is nothing I can do to fix my past, but I want to move on, and regain my confidence... and my hair! Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated! I just can't find the root of my thinning problems.

I have a similar problem as yours check out my recent post. I have been on finasteride for over 3 months now. My vitamin D was always deficient and I even have depression and high libido like you. The crown is my area of concern and it is tender when I press certain areas of it, kind of squishy too though I think that's just the skull shape. My crown only became visible in the past two or three years - I am 20 now. The difference however is that I have an autoimmune disorder called Crohn's disease since I was 6. I've never had any pain in my crown and it only feels slightly tender to the touch. Do you have any bald or balding family members (parents, uncles, grandparents)? Also, do you have a lot of body hair as that is one thing that I have which is probably caused by high DHT levels. You should also check out my post to see if you have anything similar to me although by the looks of it you seem to be otherwise healthy, while I am having some other health issues that is causing my immune system to act aggressively.

Unless you have like stress induced hair loss or are going through chemo since 6th grade you can pretty much rule out anything to do with your health/deficiencies

male pattern baldness is genetic, there is not much more to it.. your DHT is too high and its killing your follicles and honestly if you've been thinning for like 8 years and that's all you have to show for it i think you are very very very seriously overthinking things

I started balding at like 17 and am a full blown NW5 at 22, your thinning is nothing finasteride and minoxidil can't fix completely.

I will definitely check your post out!
1) My father have recently been thinning as well, although he didn't start thinning until 45. As for the rest of the men in my family, no major balding, just some have 1 or 2 uncles thinning (out of 13 uncles on both sides of the family). It's basically hair loss with age, but no early age thinning.

2) I have a lot of hair... let's just say below the waist and above my legs. but I can't grow a beard (just some fuzz and a terrible looking mustache) and I don't really grow that much hair on the rest of my body, which makes me lean towards a hormonal problem. Considering I don't have any major health issues I can blame my thinning on.

I'm a very stressful person and small, petty things stay in my head. It definitely plays a factor, but I don't think it's the main factor. Especially since the thinning symptoms started at such a young age. I will definately look into DHT.

I know, my thinning doesn't seem bad compared to other people's hair loss problems if this developed over 8 years, but it's getting worse and it seems to be speeding up as well. :(
