Hey I am 30 and have thinning at the hairline. Only really noticed this over the last year or 2 with receding at temples.

Started minoxidil once a day for the last 2 months but not sure if I should take anything else?

Your hair’s great, and at 30 any thinning would be slow. Minoxidil should hold you out for a while

I’ve been told finasteride might be a better shout for me, do you think I should use both or just try finasteride first?

Finasteride is great at maintaining, but I didn’t suggest it the first time around since your hair’s pretty good at this point. If you want to take finasteride, go ahead. You can wait until finasteride shows its gains before introducing minoxidil

Through Finasteride is known to allow you to keep the hair you have, it also regrows hair. I got tons of regrowth from Finasteride. But..............

Don't jump on Finasteride yet. You want to start one (like you have with Minoxidil), stick to it for 6-12 months, evaluate the effectiveness, then continue or stop it before getting on Finasteride. Otherwise, if you use both concurrently, you won't know which one is producing the results. Using both and not knowing if one or the other will increase expense and effort involved in application (minoxidil adds like 15 minutes to my routine).

Ideally though, starting with Finasteride is better. But we always tend to start with Minoxidil since it is available over the counter.
