Hair Recession At 16 Causing A Lot Of Stress And Making Me Feel Depressed

Hello, I am 16 years old and have already gotten receded temples on my head.
I particularly noticed slight recession around late April 2018. I believe it has gotten worst over the months.
This has caused a huge deal of stress, anxiety and depression (which isnt already good when I have anxiety and gets stressed easily!) to the point of suicidal thoughts and tear spells.

What doesn't help is the fact that I've just recently been taking isotretinoin to clear some bad acne.
Now I have that under control but everythings impacting me negatively.

I am someone who's pretty much always had body image issues, bad anxiety and further more.
It just seems one thing after another, if it isn't my weight, it's my skin and it goes on. Turns out it's my hair now.

I had pretty bad "OCD" traits in my early teens which resulted in compulsive cleaning of me washing my hair twice a day. And because of the anxiety I've always been introduced to loads of stress. Has this all resulted in premature recession?! Now. I feel guilty and mad and its k becoming abit underwhelming to the point of suicidal thoughts coming into play. Now, what scares me is, that I know isotretinoin can put your mood down. And I highly think it could be related. As I had GCSE a couple months back and my stress (about recession) wasn't as bad?

But before isotretinoin I did have pressure in my head and weird symptoms of some sort?
I'm considering getting my thyroid checked and hormones but I am unsure.

Can people help in anyway with advice or reassurance, I like my hair. Currently j have started caffeine shampoo to help stimulate follicles, changing diet slightly, I am currently looking into some supplements and oils. Now I understand this won't stop male pattern baldness (if I have it in which I probably do)

Thanks!

P. S. It's not the fact I am losing my hair that stresses me out, it's the fact that I am losing my hair at the age I am that's troubling me!

Sure, I'll get more pictures.
My dad is bald now but he's 58.
I belive he started balding late 30s
As much to that alot of the males on my mum side haven't bolded.
But I haven't seen them for a while.
Can't really question any of my dad's side as j. Haven't seen them for ages.

Here's a picture.
I'm just worried about my age and this recession. My big sister has "comforted" me by saying it's just my hair line but I dunno. Is it just maturing? Or is receding? Or is it to early to fijnd out thanks

Do u lift?

It sucks to be this young and facing this. Personally i would hop on finasteride and minoxodil right away. Talk to your parents about it and I'm sure they would understand. I should have gone on prevention protocol when i was much younger but i held back thinking it wouldn't get worse. But i never should have taken that chance, cuz hair loss in men typically go one way.

My hairline looks about the same as yours. 1.5 to 2 Norwood. A surgeon said I'm nw2. If u start now u can perhaps get some regrowth. Good luck buddy

It's odd tho my hair line seems to look different when hair is pulled back on either side the left (my left) being a more mature straight look (honestly don't mind that side) but the other side is more receded it's just odd.

And i don't lift no. Would like to start losing abit of weight /gain muscle. As I have quite a big muscle/ bone physique.
Currently diets pretty standard but like j say on acne medication currently.
I am doing non medicated slow downs for my hair like caffeine, hair masks blah blah.

It's just very sad.

How old are you BTW?
Any tips?

Thanks

I am 29. My right temple receded first. I think when i was around 24 or so. But i think i had a naturally higher hairline and i remember my classmate commenting that i was receding (when i was 17, if that makes u feel better). But i didn't really mind it too much, as it was during a period when i was under a lot of stress (college finals and stuff, lack of exercise etc). Then within the next year i got pretty lean and my face looked masculine so i forgot about it.

Until about 3 weeks ago. Days leading up to that week i masturbated a fair bit, like once at least everyday lol. I also had 2 back to back cheat days where i loaded up on a ton of junk food. Then 2 to 3 days after the last cheat day i noticed my receded left temple. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Quickly did some research and ordered a years worth of finasteride.

Personally i feel caffeine is bad for dht. I have read somewhere that it raises dht levels. If i were u, since your not willing to go down the medication route as of yet, i would order natural supps that lower dht. Eg, saw palmetto, vitamin e etc. I would get minoxidil and/or ketoconazole shampoo since they don't f with your hormones. I would also switch up my diet. Just some suggestions:)

Thanks for the tips ☺️
Ive been researching a fair few about vitamins and stuff.
I mean I do masterbate alot. Is this bad?
I mean college is starting soon and I'm hoping to get a bird soon.
Would you reccomend me going to the doctors about the issue to get a expert's point of view?

Your hair is fine. Lifting has NOTHING to do with hair loss. Total ignorance.
Please explain further and if you'd be ever so kindly give tips on increasing full hair health potential!
What was ignorant?

Insinuating lifting has anything to do with hair loss.

Just use things like caffeine shampoo and castor seed oil.

Ahh,
Yer I'm researching that. I'm currently using alpecin and investigating in herbal stuff.

Does masterbation cause hair recession?

Over masturbation (2+ times every day) is surely not healthy and probably leads to endocrine imbalances over time for some people. Masturbation in and of itself is fine.

Right, okay that's good to know I guess?
Thanks for the advice.

Youre all good buddy, dont stress

There's no actual miniaturization so it just looks like this is your hairline. Keep an eye on it in the future just in case is starts to go back any further. But at the momoent it definitely looks like you're in the clear

this is coming from someone who actually started losing hair when I was 16

Please explain what miniaturisation is and every because I do have slight little hairs on my temples. Maybe you might not be able to see it clearly on the pictures?
Or am I just worrying over something that I shouldn't be!?

Thanks

its when your hairs get thinner and thinner until they basically die. When I say you have no miniaturization I mean on your hairline. Yes you may have a few very thin hairs on your temples but you dont have any one your actual hairline. Its very thick and healthy indicating thats its just a mature hairline and isnt progressing

Over masturbation could speed up male pattern baldness by raising dht levels. If u have the male pattern baldness gene than u should do.it in moderation. And please don't try finasteride until your sure you finished puberty
