I've been using lots of hairspray ever since i was 14 in an effort to make my naturally curly hair appear thicker and fuller. I'm 18 now and have been balding for about a year and i was wondering that if using excessive amounts of this hairspray still, would interfere with the treatments working. In addition would using this much hairspray affect my scalp condition. I've been shampooing everyday and using nizoral 2% twice a week yet I still noticed dandruff.

Tough question, but I believe that whereas sebum and dirt built up on the scalp can cause hair to break by weakening the shaft, I dont believe it can actually cause the entire hair to fall out.

It is important to note that if you are losing hair, in the large majority of cases it is male pattern baldness related.

Best thing to do is have blood work done to rule out any other causes.

Hair spray will not affect the effectiveness of any treatments whatsoever, so put that out of your mind.

If you are getting dandruff, I suggest wash 3 times a week with 2% Nizoral and in the interim days use "head and Shoulders" anti dandruff shampoo..this is the best approach to dandruff.

Also consider getting on propecia or minoxidil...you are young and can catch it early!
