Chalk another one up to OCD probably again, but by looking at this photo, you can see my scalp where my split is in the back but can you notice in the front of that where the hair looks like a different color? Maybe where roots are showing, I don't know. Anyways, does anyone know if this is a natural thing or maybe indeed thinning possibly going on? Again, this shot was straight up in the sunshine. Thanks for your time.

Hey Jasinfla,

Bright lighting and sunlight can show scalp with even the thickest heads of hair, don't worry about it too much.

If you look through some of my photos I've deliberately taken some comparison shots with bright overhead lighting vs. typical daylight.

Hope this helps x

GeminiX, it definitely does and you are absolutely right. Just all this different coloring has gotten me a little more alert recently and I just need to calm down and stop worrying. Thanks again!

Noooo not at all! You know that this is a very serious issue. Just the littlest things that I see on my head always put me at alert when honestly there's probably nothing going on & I putting myself closer to closer to an insane asylum, lol.

Actually finasteride, nobody has ever told me, it was just me. My wife parents, coworkers (I know this is sad) said that all looks good and don't know what I am talking about. My problem is bathroom mirrors or any mirror in general and I constantly look & spend time to honestly brush my hair until I feel that it looks good to me. True BDD & OCD behaviors. I just feel recently that I may have some miniaturization in my crown because, yeah I have that split that shows scalp but it looks like one area maybe moving to the left a little and maybe developing an oval like right where that area shows in the photo. I went to the dermatologist back in January & she said that everything is fine in the back but I had her to focus on the other side of my head, where I thought something was going on but nothing. Drives me insane. If I would have some miniaturization going on next to my scalp split, I keep thinking maybe i should get some Rogaine because maybe it will thicken it up and put me at ease. I also have blood work scheduled for Thursday and haven't been taking any regular vitamins recently, which I know doesn't do anything for hair thinning but overall helps the entire body.

Anyways to answer your question, I am my own worst enemy when it comes to this.

Do NOT bother with any treatments yet. You have a great head of hair. Treatments lose effectiveness over time and when you do experience noticable male pattern baldness they could have already lost the effect if you begin them now. Enjoy the hair you have and steer away from these mirrors. I try myself as I am BDD and I actually do the same as you with my hair. It gets me extremely depressed. Remove mirrors which you don't need and trying looking though the reflection of the window as they don't capture you in clear light.

Another point I am going to make is the side effects of treatments like minoxidil. Do you really want the possibility of getting wrinkles or bloated face? I'd rather be bald than have my forehead covered in wrinkles. Think carefully before approaching these treatments.

Artas, thanks for the comments and I really appreciate it. I cannot agree with you more on mirrors & brights lights. I wish you all the best on everything and once again comments like yours helps me build more confidence in myself to not let things like this effect my life.

And once again, finasteride, thanks also!

Ok, don't laugh for those who think I'm not thinning/balding but I swear, unless it gets worse, this will be the last. I took this picture today & am just wondering where you see that split (part) in the back, right directly to the right of it where it looks like a half oval, is that hair in there thinning or is just the way it's brushed? Again, as you can tell, this was taken in the sun. Just for the record, my wife thinks I'm insane but I'm just not sure.

Also is something rogaine or nizoral or finasteride could help with?
Thanks!

What the hell is wrong with you? Log off, calm down, and relax. There is nothing wrong with your hair.

Nobody else will notice your hair loss. They will definitely notice the insecurity you undoubtedly project.
