Hair on my Crown/Scalp - Please take a look

Hi all

I've attached some photos of my crown area for you to see.

Quick background - I'm almost 24, I have a history of eczema and scalp eczema (seborrheic dermatitis), and have applied some pretty potent stuff to my hair over the past few years (Strong shampoos, and strong steroids in ointment/drops to my scalp like Dermovate)

Thankfully my eczema has mostly subsided on my scalp, but I still get it on my face, near corners of hair, but I use natural remedies such as Apple cider vinegar instead of steroids now to get rid of it.

Anyhow, the 1st set of photos are from November 2015 (November 2015_1 - November 2015_4)

The 2nd set of photos are from April 5th and 6th, 2016 (These are all the files that DO NOT have November as their file name)

The first set of photos from November are taken in my bathroom under a light, and some of the April photos too were taken yesterday evening under a ceiling light, however today I took some photos in natural sunlight in the morning to see how things looked. These are the last few photos in the April upload.

Please let me know if you think i'm going bald from my crown area. My eczema is returning to my scalp as I can feel it getting itchy, and I'm sure the years of applying Dermovate steroid to the sides, back and crown area of my scalp hasn't helped.

I also have nizoral 2% shampoo prescribed to be, which I've read is good for stopping baldness, should I also use that weekly again? It makes my hair feel dry.

Lastly, does anyone recommend I should go and get like a really short haircut, like a 1 all over, or even shave my head, to see if I am actually going bald, or if my hair just clumps up at the back near the crown?

Thanks all.

ALSO, PLEASE LOOK AT POST #2 FOR REST OF APRIL 2016 PICS.

Thanks

Sadly it does seem to have some definite thinning. Do you lose short, thin, tapered hairs from the area?

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure if I lose it from that area specifically. However when I wash my hair I do lose around 10/20 hairs.

Compared to my November photos, are the April photos worse? I have a feeling they are the same, it's just the April photos are better as I got my brother to take them for me with direct sunlight.

I can't be 100% sure. It seems thinner, but we all know natural sunlight is more harsh than artificial light. Regardless, it may be time to get on a regular schedule of taking pictures in the same place with the same light. Then if you notice anymore thinning, consider treatment options. Good luck man; I know hair loss of any kind can be extremely stressful.

Thanks. Yeah I am kinda stressed at the moment.

I'm going to be taking pics every month or so to keep an eye on it. I'm also going to shave my hair now to see what it's like when the hair grows back.

If it is indeed thinning, what can I do/take?

And does anyone know where I can get a miniaturisation study done in London or anywhere in the UK?

Thanks

Don't shave your head if you want to keep track of miniaturization. This is important. You need to be albe to see which hairs are thin and tapered at the end. This is a prime indicator of miniaturization and will be indispensable for your evaluation.

Ok, how can I keep track of miniaturisation then? I'm in London, do you know of any clinics in the UK? I can't seem to find any through Google.

Also, please take a look at these photos I found from me roughly 5/6 years ago. They are of my scalp.

Your crown seems a bit thicker in these photos. By keeping track of miniaturization, I mean checking for small, thin, tapered hairs. If you keep noticing a lot of them you might want to look at treatment. I live in the US so I'm not to sure about good clinics.

Thanks. Do you mean hairs that have fallen off from the crown area? As I assume it'll be fairly hard for me to check for thin, tapered hairs that are currently on my scalp by myself.

For people in the UK, I've rang the Belgravia centre who say they can look at miniaturisation, or aspects of it. However, do you think they will be independent? As I assume they want to sell my medicine so may say I have a problem, even if I don't have one?

I've heard Belgravia is notorious for just selling expensive branded forms of easily attainable medicine. I would recommend going to an accredited trichologist if you want to be sure. And yes, I mean hairs that have been shed. You may decide to even pull gently on the area and see how many, and what type of hairs come out.

Thanks, yup I thought as much. I'll try googling around for a trichologist.

I have to shave my hair due to my eczema as my doctor wants to see my scalp. If I do shave my hair completely, and after a few weeks when I start to get very short hairs, should I take pictures then to see how my hair is?

Yeah, you can do that. You won't be able to see if the hair is tapered though.

Hey. So for the past 2 days I've been examining my pillow and feeling my crown area, and no hairs fall out, or are there any hairs on my pillow.

Ive booked an appointment with a trichologist to see what they say, but I'm worried that they won't be independent as at the end of the day, they just want to sell products/transplants.

Also, they said they're going to look at my scalp/crown with a periscope or something. Is that a miniaturisation study?
