We all know artificial lighting makes hairloss more obvious, makes me wonder if
artificial lighting makes the hair of non-balding men look like crap too?

artificial lighting makes everyone look like sh*t...their eyes and skin look terrible.

Yep. The light in my bathroom makes my hair and skin look like sh*t but outside in the normal sunlight it looks fine.

/\ totally.

In my bathroom I have an overhead light, a sky light, and this god-awful-terrible bright-as-sh*t light above the mirror that projects a beam of light of solar intensity straight at my head. I used to use that light and get down on myself until I realized that isn't what people see.

I recently saw a facebook photo of a bunch of my male friends in a bar in some super intense lighting. It was NOT flattering.

So why do studio photographers use it?

Probably a different kind of light. there's Neon, fluorescent etc.... Fluorescent makes my hair look see through, god knows what kind of light are in those photos, but probably not as bad as fluorescent light.

Comparing the lighting of a professional photoshoot with the harsh artificial lighting in our daily life is just plain stupid.

But hey, you're right , it's also artificial lighting. :jackit:

So just to clear the air: When I said "artificial lighting" I didn't mean the kind of a professional photoshoot that's designed to actually improve your looks.

My hair def looks much worse in artificial light. I was out a couple weeks ago at this club and went to the bathroom. I washed my hands, looked in the mirror and WTF my hair was sooooo see-through. Had to take a couple shots after that one... :(
