Hair Loss with no family history?

Guys,

Does anyone know if it is common or uncommon to experience hairloss at 27years old with no family history of hair loss?

I have a very large family (Irish catholic so that kind of explains it) with many males, and I have found no sign of MBP in the last 4 generations. Even males in my family who are over 60 still have really thick hair.

I kind of feel like a bit of a freak. If one of my relatives had male pattern baldness I would at least feel as though it genetically made sense for me to get it.

Should I get a blood screen done? I am not really in denial, just trying to understand how if it was genetics, why it seems to have skipped at least 4 generations. I have 3 brothers and none of them have male pattern baldness.

My balding is not really advanced. Starting to get thin on top. Mainly noticeable when my hair is wet.

Is this a common story? Is anyone else in the same situation?

Its not common but neither is it extraordinary. The vast majority of sufferers will have family members with a similar problem. You just happen to be one of the few that dont. The m.p.b must come from somewhere in your genetic background it seems that you just got really unlucky.
Ps I would'nt bother going to a Dr just accept the fact. Looking for excuses will only lead to further dissapointment.
