Hi everyone
So, I'm currently studying abroad for the semester and have noticed quite a lot of hair all over my room. I get up to 10 hairs on my pillow every morning, say 20 in the shower and some more during the day when I tug my hair.
Because I was freaking out, I decided to go to a derm who told me I had nothing to worry about, but I did have lice. She said that the stress of moving and June/August exams probably contributed to my hair loss. I don't find as many hair strands as I did before the lice treatment, but I'm still not convinced I'm not going bald. The only bald guy in my family was my maternal grandfather, but his hair loss didn't start until his early 50s. Nonetheless, she prescribed Minoxidil, which I'm hesitant to use since it's only meant for genetic alopecia.
My hairline is, as far as I can tell, okay, but I do find that my crown is thin. I found other pictures of myself where I can tell I have a cowlick even from a long distance, and those pictures were taken 3 years ago. I'm 20 years old, and everybody tells me I'm crazy, but I'm terribly insecure. I went to the barber's early September, who didn't tell me my crown was thin, so I assume I've had it for a while? Is it possible for people to have permanent thin crowns?
So, with my granddad only starting to bald at 50, can I start balding at 20. It seems so unfair...
