Hair Loss On Sides...is This Normal?

I'm 33 and probably have a NW3V pattern. Have been on Finasteride for about 2.5 years and started minoxidil about 2 months ago. I've recently noticed that there is a strange thinning on the sides of my head which I'm not sure is normal for male pattern baldness. I never noticed it before, but I guess it's possible that it's been there a while. To be honest, it has me slightly worried...

My hair is slightly damp as I had gotten out of the shower not too long ago. It's about 1 inch long (#8 buzzcut). There are also photos of my front and top for reference. Have any of you ever seen that type of thinning on the sides of the head on other people before?

Thanks!

It maybe minoxidil shedding but unfortunately the upper sides are non-DHT resistant. It may have just been a bad angle, but see a Derm if it gets worse. Propecia might be failing you but I honestly think it was just a bad picture.

For 33 and 1 inch (and damp!) you have super dense hair.
I guess it's just the angle, and natural brush of the hair. I have that as well on the side. Actually if you would take a photobfrom the neck upwards of the back of your head, you would see something similar, even in the safe zone.

If you have sides I would reduce the dose tho. If they don't go away in the first weeks they only get worse over time.

I have been throwing a similar tantrum in the past weeks, but honestly with one inch and shooting directly from the growth direction you will always see the scalp.

Thanks for the replys! Maybe you guys are right and it's just the angle of the picture and possibly the length of the hair coupled with the direction it's growing out. I hope it is! Guess I just never noticed it before and it seemed to be in an odd place, so it was getting me really worried.

Grasshüpfer, I just wanted to comment on your first post. I've actually lost close to 40-50% density on the top of my scalp. It's extremely noticeable if my hair is (sopping) wet, oily or in direct sunlight. Zoom in closely on the hairline in my photo and you will see the thinning :)

I think my saving grace, if you can call it that, is that my individual hairs are VERY thick. So if I shampoo every day and air dry it creates an illusion that there is more hair than there actually is.

It's interesting though - before thinning my hair had tons of volume. It was like a damn mop when I grew it long. I've attached a photo of how things looked before the hair loss.

I will monitor it and if I see any changes that would warrant a visit to the derm. I am also welcome to any more comments/opinions if anyone has any!
