Firsly sorry if this is no the right section to post this .
I`ve had small and large boils all over my scalp for around 2 years now. And around that time i started to loose my hair .
Im not sure, but is this normal and related to male pattern baldness ? the top of my head is the most effected and i have ost most of my hair there. I`ve had a blood test and
nothing came of it, but these boils are really irritating they itch all the time and i know this is disgusting but they pop and
harden so i can pick them off. any one experience similar thing

Thanks and any help would be appreciated

Boils? You need to get some opinions from medical professionals not random people on forums, this sounds like something more serious than male pattern baldness!

Sounds a bit like what I experienced. I remember staying with my grandpa in Chicago and laying awake at night just scratching away at all of the scabby bumps.

The unfortunate thing for you is that the only thing that helped me was nizoral and it's hard to get now.

Nizoral and/or selenium sulphide shampoo. When I had dandruff like scabs on my scalp they didn't "pop", they looked like hard dandruff embedded at the shaft of my hair and when I got them out I'd pull maybe 30-40 hairs out doing it, and some off them would be really painful and sensitive to shampoo, they'd sting like a mother****er.

Use my suggested shampoo's.

You're right Irish, I kind of skipped over the "popping" part. I've never had that either and we've pretty much experienced the same thing. I ordered some nizoral from the UK but it's been weeks and I still haven't received it. I'll try those other shampoos in the meantime.

There is a small case study on it being a very mild anti-androgen-like shampoo, some have even compared it to 2% minoxidil (although I've heard that's next to useless). I've been using it for about 18 months, and before I started finasteride I could have sworn it helped thicken up my hair a tad. Not something one should rely on, if you're not going to use finasteride then at the very least use minoxidil along with nizoral.
