Hair loss delayed

Alright fellas, just a quick qestion for you regarding all these meds and what not for fighting hairloss. What do you guys think is the average time frame one can stay at baseline or above if hairloss is caught early with a regimen consisting of finas/nizoral and even possibly minoxidil if caught fairly early.

I know Michael Barry stated somewhere that it could be 12-14 years before one dropped back down to baseline and then I have heard other people say 4-6 years. I know it is different for each person, but on average what does everyone think barring someone catches is somewhat early. Is it possible to keep it forever??

You're looking for reassurance from guys on an internet site who are just losing their hair like you. No one knows how long you can keep your hair for sure and everyone is different. I know guys who started going bald after me and are already almost bald (im 21). Some guys go so slow that it seems it'll take 20 years til they are bald. Treatments can delay that process but I'm assuming not as long for the guys who have more aggressive loss.
What I'm trying to say is... get on some treatments and try not to think about how long they will work for. You will just beat yourself up over something that can't be answered. I hope that helps.

You know, I'd love to see longer trials done with dutasteride. The Propecia trials suggested that it might be 7-10 years before you reach baseline, yet it only blocks 80% of follicle DHT. With dutasteride's inhibition somewhere up near 98.5%, surely to god it's possible that those on dutasteride might die with all their hair?

Not necessary because DHT isn't the only cause of hair loss. You have also TGf-beta which might be as important to block as DHT.
DHT and TGF-beta are the main bad guys that cause hair to get smaller and eventually stop growing at all. SO I think that if you block DHT 100% and than tgf-beta also 100% then you might be able to stop hair loss permanently and die with the same hair as you had when you started treatment.
of course these are only assumptions and we can never be 100% sure but with up to date information these two are the main reason we go bald so blocking them should at least halt the progression. Now the regrowth is a whole diffrent story. I am interested in stopping hairloss permanently as well because I am in my early stages so stopping it at its track would means heaven to me.
