I just don't think pharmaceutical companies have the will to find a cure that could be a one off treatment. All they are interested in is making as much money as they can by making us buy tablets or topicals.
I completely agree.
I'm 1000% positive the economic interests of drug companies end up influencing just how far research into certain afflictions goes. Don't underestimate the extreme power these companies. They are giants. They bully and influence everyone, including the FDA. I'll even pull a Fox Moulder and wager that cures for male pattern baldness have probably been discovered and then "covered up" by the powers that be.
As people like to bring up over and over again, it's absurd to think we can clone a freaking cow, but our only weapon to grow some extra hair comes in the form of Rogaine. I mean... Rogaine... Give me a break! Everyone knows that for most people it works like crap, is a huge pain in the ***, but we keep buying it. In this age of swift scientific advancements it's absurd to think no better topical has come along in twenty years. Ok, so Pfizer feels the bite from all the generic Minoxidils coming on the market. What do they do step things up? Spend money on developing a better, more effective topical? Of course not, they put the same old one in a damn "proprietary" FOAM! Wow, I bet it took 2 whole marketing teams to dream that one up. You can now stop saving money on generics and go back to shelling out the big bucks for a brand new vehicle for your Minoxidil. Thank you, Pfizer! You really have perfected the art of anally raping my bank account.
As long as we keep buying archaic, marginal products, the drug companies will keep re-packaging them and re-selling them to us. Their business is to keep us hoping and throwing money out the window, not cure our problems.
So yeah, set up a fund, get some researchers and you've got my donation. That'll be money well spent.
