Was it difficult seeing a doctor about this? I've tried telemedicine but most don't offer finasteride. Started when I was 16 and am now 18 but I don't want to go through the awkwardness if a doctor isn't going to prescribe it.

It wasn't difficult at all. I didn't even know what finasteride was at the time, the dermatologist just prescribed it and that was that....

I've been turned down twice because of my age. Any ideas to help persuade them??

For all you young guys out there look up Darolutamide, this could be a potential cure for our aggressive hair loss.

I want to see some positive results on this site first, more important than theory. On paper, dutasteride sounds like a miracle drug, a potential cure.....yet we know that's not the case in reality..

Not even close, so many people can't tolerate finasteride let alone Dutasteride, so doesn't sound like a miracle drug at all.

Blah to all the dissenters, if the Doctor gave you finasteride at 16 whatever. I would relax a bit. Finasteride maintains hair in around 80% of guys for more than ten years, probably forever. I've been taking for more than 5 with no side effects.

There's an 80% chance that hairloss isn't something you'll have to worry about anymore, and if finasteride doesn't work for you there's not much you can do about it. The effectiveness of everything else compared to maybe dutasteride is abysmal, so why worry about it when you're doing as much as you can?

I wasn't sure if I was maintaining my hair until I was on it for three years so my advice is to take your finasteride and forget about it. You're not going to know for sure that it works for possibly years so don't waste your time thinking about it
